1. Writing super quality content.
2. Post regularly
3. Do some SEO and keyword research every time you publish any post.
4. Comment on other authority blogs related to your blog.
5. Be active in few forum and use your URL as signature.
6. write some guest post on other blog.

It is needless to say optimize your Blog first before going to make it public and have audience for. Focusing on content quality is served well by search engines rather than quantity. Besides, find some good Article Directories, Social Bookmarking Sites and Web 2.0 like Weebly and Squidoo etc to make some hyperlinks that link back your Blog.

Use facebook and other famous social networking website's for promotion.If you get good traffic you don't need to do SEO on your blog.

Connect with people on social networks. Get on Facebook and find a group that is interested in the same topics you are. Start talking to people in that group and then asking them what you can do to help them. Help them out with something and when they ask you how they can help you in return, show them your blog and ask them if they would critique it and stick around to see the growth.
