Amazon TOS. What can I include on my website?

Hello,

Do the most experienced users know if the following are in compliance with Amazon's TOS for an Amazon affiliate site?

1) Including product reviews from Amazon on the site. Can we just copy and paste reviews from Amazon? Or can we only add specific snippets up to a certain word limit per review?

2) Can I have a button that adds the product to cart, or only one that takes the visitor to the Amazon product page?

Please only respond if you are certain about the answer...

Thanks in advance!

Having just dug through the amazon TOS documents (there are several) I have share my understanding of what they contained...

    1) you can include the product reviews, but you can't modify them in any way. You can truncate them arbitrarily (say to a preset consistent length) but you can't truncate them specifically to make them look more favorable.

    2) There is scuds of docs about using the amazon cart, so it appears you can add things to the cart and keep them on your site. What you can't do is process your own payment, or intercept any of the personal details that get sent to amazon.

I printed the TOS docs all out and sat down with a cup of coffee and a pen and read them top to bottom and circled all the stuff I found to be relevant. You should do the same.

From the Associates Program Participation Requirements:

    28. You will not display or otherwise use any of our customer reviews or star ratings, in part or in whole, on your site unless you have obtained a link to that customer review or star rating through the Product Advertising API and you comply with the requirements set forth in the License Agreement.
From Amazon's Associates Central Help Section

Links that add products directly to customers' Shopping Carts smooth the buying process and typically convert significantly better than links to product detail pages. You can build add-to-cart links in several ways....
As agc has evidently done, if this is really going to be a business for you then you should treat it as such. Take the time to research and learn what you can and cannot do, what Amazon allows and expects, etc.

Add to cart button can be beneficial and make you more money. If you only link to product details page Amazon drops the cookie that lives for 24 hours. If you have a user add to cart and the user buys the product in a couple of weeks (up to 30 days I think) you would still get a commission.
