Have you tried bum marketing or article marketing but just not seen any results?

Do you have articles that you've written that just can't get traffic or ranking in the search engines?

A few weeks ago I stumbled on a great way to increase the traffic and ranking of web 2.0 articles.

The crazy thing, I've known about this link source for a long time but never saw how powerful it could be to get my web 2.0 articles high ranking until NOW!

It uses metafilter, which is a powerful place to get PR 5, PR 4, PR 3, PR 2 links pointing to your articles:

I made a quick video explaining in detail how to do it:

  • Chad,

Very interesting video. Can you say how many answers you might give within same topic (or per day) to be in compliance? Do you also use it to link back to domains and blogs or mostly articles in directories?

    • The best way to use this is to link back to web 2.0 articles you've created on places like ezinearticles, goarticles, squidoo, etc.. because those will seem the most natural to people on metafilter. However, if you have articles on your own website or blog that are informative and match the metafilter question, you can post to those as well. Just make sure that the website/blog has a different name than your metafilter username, and that the article on your website/blog isn't overly promotional.
    • There is no hard and fast rule, but you should make it seem somewhat natural. For instance, if you are going to post 5 links in a day, intersperse them with answers to questions that don't contain any links. Obviously they are on the lookout for spammers, so make your answers real and informative and make your posting look natural and you'll be fine.
  • Great share!

    • Wow, thanks for sharing that info.

I've been hammering out a ton of articles lately and this is a great way to get even more mileage out of them.

I'm sure I'm gonna have to watch the video again to get the search string for Google right, but very valuable.

      Thanks,
      Nando

  • Can this technique also be used to get my metafilter profile page ranked in google?"

    • great question... yes you can use it to get backlinks through your userid (posted after every comment) and your metafilter profile page can actually rank high in google. However, this requires a curiosity generating domain name for you to place on the profile page, or you wont get any traffic from the profile page itself.

  • Chad,

    Thanks for sharing.
  • Hey Chad thanks for the tip, but I was wondering if the PR passed would be substantial. There are so many outgoing links that it seems that such links would pass very little juice. Most importantly have you used this technique yourself over a period of time & seen results.

    • I've only been using it for a few weeks (posted this almost as soon as I discovered it). However, part of how this works is by creating multiple metafilter results and using them to link to all your properties. For instance, you could safely link to one 2.0 article 2 or even 3 times (spread it out over time) per account. If you have 5-10 articles you are trying to promote, that will make very good use of each metafilter account. It is the buildup of links coming in that will drive PR and authority to your site.

Also, if you can find metafilter pages without a lot of other posts on them, that allows you to pull more PR juice from your link.

  • Thanks! very generous of you. Others would have charged for this information.
  • Hey Chad, how do you prevent your account from being banned? I posted about 4 comments, all well written and thought out replies and my account was instantly disabled. How are you able to post without being disabled and how frequently can you post without looking suspicious?
    • [1] reply
    • Can you tell me a bit more? For instance, did all 4 of those comments contain links? Were the links to a web 2.0 article or to a regular website? Were they posted really close together (like one right after the other)? And is your username the same as the username of the articles?

  • Have you noticed that seoquake doesn't works on google results. SEO for firefox works though. Is this a bug or something?
    • [1] reply
    • SEOquake works for google results for me, I use it almost every day. But if you want to SEO for firefox thats fine, as long as you can get those PR values.
  • Another informative posts I love the WF. Chad I really appreciate this will put this into full effect and I already use SEOquake great tool.

I also us yahoo answers sometimes do you think that has value?

    • Someone mentioned a search string for Google ^^^^

      A search string for what?
    • yahoo answers has similar value, but their links are nofollowed so they don't pass PR. Yahoo answers is mainly valuable for direct traffic.
  • Thats a great question, here are two indicators of site traffic. Neither one of them is foolproof, but will give you a general idea:

    http://alexa.com/siteinfo/metafilter.com+squidoo.com
  • Thank for such an excellent video, I just started writing articles and this will be good technique to add to my strategies. Excellent content.
  • Be very careful not to spam Metafilter. The guy who runs that site will ban you instantly, he runs that place with an ironfist.

  • Thanks Chad for sharing the vid.
