Resending CONFIRMATION Emails - Legit Or Not...

As many Warriors know, autoresponders such as Aweber and Get Response send out confirmation emails with a double-opt in request.

I think resending confirmation emails (perhaps at a pre-set interval like one day later) will do all marketers the world of good.

This will greatly increase confirmation rates from people who DO want to receive emails.

Sometimes people just have something on and can't confirm immediately, then they forget.

Sometimes the autoresponder doesn't send out confirmation emails promptly.

As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with autoresponders providing an option with resending confirmation emails.

Somebody should change the law or something.

I can see both sides of the situation.

Yes it is good for the people who do forget, however it is EXTREMELY annoying to the people who just decide not to confirm.

Ultimately it is up to you, they decided to put their email in the box...

I would suggest not to send another one as people can easily mark it as spam and might get you flagged pretty fast.

One long running MLM has done this for years with no problems.

The rule there is that two additional confirmation emails are within 3 weeks of the date the person originally did the single opt in. After 30 days no contact can be made by either the company or the affiliates if someone has not opted in.

Never saw anyone complain about it - but on the other hand it didn't seem to make them confirm, either.

For people who do not understand the opt-in vs double opt-in procedures, the confirmation may put them off as they feel they are "agreeing to" something.

Sometimes you can increase the rates with a good explanation of what the confirmation is and give them a reason (a freebie) to click it.

    I think you're completely wrong

Instead of increasing your confirmation rate, this will greatly increase the number of people who hit the button "This is Spam".

    You know why?

If someone tries to subscribe to your newsletter and then after a few minutes or hours forgets what she or he did ... you don't want them on your list. These people are the people who will cry very loud SPAAAM when they will receive your newsletter.

You don't want yourself wasting your time in order to be removed from blacklists, do you?
