Social Bookmarks: Do They Still Deliver Traffic?

i have a product review site and was wondering if social bookmarks would help bring targeted traffic

    I personally use social bookmaking for indexing new posts and maybe a few backlinks. But, I think there are a few social bookmarking sites that if you have an interesting bookmark, can deliver good traffic to you. StumbleUpon and dig are two that do tat for me (once in a while one of my bookmarks gets liked by other users and ends up on the 1st page and it send me lots of traffic)

    They can bring in traffic depending on the buzz that you can get. For traffic, you would need to put a bit of work into the title and description. Like satrap, I mostly use them for ranking sites and indexing.

    Bookmarking sites, create great back links and can get your content viewed by other unique visitors. Even if the traffic from those sites are poor, it is still recommended to post your content up there. You need as much back links as you can get in order to rank high in google.

    To answer your question! Yes they do still work!

      It works for me but only few. I get around 300 Visits a day from REDDIT & I get around 400-500 Visits from Stumbleupon. I do use digg, delicious, etc SBM websites but they dont actually bring traffic others just help me in getting my page indexed fast

    I don't think they still deliver any traffic because i believe it become a place to build awareness and backlink.
    I don't think it will bring much traffic as what happen in the previous.

    As per my experience, Social bookmarks will not give you good amount of traffic. You have to apply all techniques for getting ranking in search engine as well as for traffic. Social bookmarks sure help us to increase SERP as well as PR of our site.

    No! you will not get good traffic, I think SBM is good for getting your site get indexed fast. Remember if you are starting with a campaign on bookmarking sites (there are tons of them) and if you want maximum result, keep the descriptions in all of them different. Dont repeat the description in any of the SBM sites. Your site will get indexed fast and you will be able to take out the maximum advantage from it!

    I dont think that social bookmarks delivers any much traffic, due to many sites and specially using bookmarking for SEO had really decreased their value to minimum in terms of getting traffic but still they do work very well in context of SEO.

      Probably won't bring so much traffic to a product review site. Social bookmarking can bring traffic, but only if you've got a topic that's particularly interesting, controversial or newsworthy in some way.

        I disagree with those who are making blanket statements, but I definitely agree with this. You might get good traffic for a product review site by bookmarking, but I don't think it's likely. To get the big traffic from bookmarking sites, you'll need to post something that people find interesting enough to spread around.

        However, OP, you should still try it for yourself. Even if it only delivers a little traffic, that adds up over time.

        I agree with this. Sites that are more "link-baity" tend to get lots of direct traffic from social bookmarking sites, but they are ALWAYS good for backlinks, which improves SERPS, which improves your traffic.

        So long story short, do it but don't expect much immediate traffic.

    Most definitely. I've been using social bookmarks for years for some buzz as well as backlinks. Depending on your title and description, it can generate a lot of traffic. On average though I only see maybe 10 a day from bookmarks until my bookmark gets pushed down by new ones.

    Try Onlywiredotcom They're pretty legit. Pretty stream-line too..

    Absolutely yes... Bookmarking helps your content get indexed, many are a good backlink. The main benefit is building a community around you with people with similar interests to yourself. Bookmarking done properly on a consistent basis, for the long term can build and build your pool of contacts. Use the main ones like Delicious, Digg, StumbleUpon. And add the more social sites like LinkeIn and of course Facebook and Twitter for a more viral effect to share your bookmarks.

    Yes bookmarking still works. One of the simplest rules I live by is bookmark and ping everything, including your back links.

    I still use social bookmarking in my mix of traffic generation methods for my websites. I find it's great to get niche sites indexed fast and start building some links - and it's even great to help guide your inbound links more 'rep'. So yes it's worth your time. Of course don't focus just on social bookmarking - do other things to generate traffic. That's the key - having a mix of everything really!

    I tend to mainly get traffic from social bookmarking when it's for an article that's about a current news topic or it's a review of a big product that's a hot topic at the moment. Otherwise, it doesn't bring in much traffic for me. I still use it though - mainly for indexing or in the hope that post will go viral. It's often rare, depending on the topic, but it does happen occasionally so it's worth bookmarking, I think.

      Will they deliver traffic? do it right, and they likely will. But will that traffic follow your links and buy? Doubtful.

      I stopped worrying about social bookmarking when I noticed how I used the sites. The wake-up call came as I Stumbled around the Internet. I wasn't looking for product reviews, I was looking for entertainment. I was passing time, maybe hoping for an idea or two. I sure wasn't planning to buy something.

      As for doing the bookmarking, I was doing it for links and indexing. Not for "sharing the stuff I thought was worth sharing".

      That's my story and I'm sticking to it, but...
