Have you ever put something on your website only to find it doesn't always load properly?

When you click on SEO Help Videos - Internet Marketing it will open in a new window (or just click on the image below).

Do you see the blue PLAY button that loads beneath the dude in the suit? Sometimes I do...sometimes I don't.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure this one out.

I would sincerely appreciate several of your inputs by just simply letting me know if the blue play button loads for you or not along with what browser you're using (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.) A big THANKS will definitely be given to you for this.

Looks fine to me too, I found that my websites sometimes look different when viewing through different browsers especially through Firefox what worked for me was to always make sure I had the latest version and updates.

I just tried it on Firefox on Linux and it did not show up. I then reloaded the page and it did show (probably because of local cache).

I think your problem is with the JavaScript code that you are using to embed the player. Why are you using JavaScript to embed the player?

I looked at the JavaScript code and all it does is echo out HTML. Why not use use the HTML directly on your page? Are you trying to hide/protect the source file? If so, then there are much better ways to do it.

That's the same exact problem I'm having! It will not show up on the first load of the page BUT it will show up when I RELOAD the page. I'll PM you.

P.S. I'm using the Javascript code because that's the code the software program I'm using to generate the audio button(s) gave me to embed.

The open the JavaScript file (welcome-audio/FlashAudioWizard.js) in a text editor and from the start of each line, remove:

then from the end of each line, remove:

That will be the HTML code you will then paste between

instead of the script call.

I'm using a Win XP machine here. Tired it in FireFox and it didn't show up the first time. I refreshed the page and it came up. It shows up fine in Internet Explorer the first time itself.

  It isn't necessarily a wrong thing to do, but it does require yet another request to the server, which in this case it totally not required. A while back I found a similar issue where Firefox would not download or process the code fast enough to display it on the page. Weird, but removing the JavaScript call fixed the issue for me. Hopefully it will solve it for you as well.

What I don't get is some folks that have the latest version of Firefox have no problem loading it for the first time whereas others w/ the same version have no luck viewing it properly the first time.

This is just weird.

I did some Googling and found the following thread:

[SWFObject] SWF does not play on first load (both IE and FF)

It points to a web server parameter + browser issue.

It also provides a solution. Edit your .htaccess file and add the following code:

SetEnvIfNoCase Request_URI .(?:gif|jpe?g|png|swf)$ no-gzip dont-vary

Wil, nah...it doesn't have to all be in one line. But you were right about not placing it on the page here correctly. Perhaps it happened out of your control when you quoted it, but you missed the "/" marks in some spots - I found this out the hard way when I got a 500 error first

then actually checked out the link you gave me.

Yes, the CODE tag must have removed it...but putting it all one one line works as well. the "\'s" simply mean "consider the code on the next line as being on this same line. :-)

Okay...NOW I would appreciate it if the folks that said it DID NOT work for them the first time would visit it again, reset their cache, and RELOAD the page...LOL.

  Nope, same problem here. Just for kicks, move those two lines to the top of the .htaccess file. To be honest I am not sure if it will matter, but let's try it.

On my desktop PC running Firefox 3.0.5 it works when I reload after resetting cache & offline website data but still does not on my laptop running the same version of Firefox. Talk about a hair-puller!

I did put the </embed> in the first time a ways up in this post. It seems to spit it out every time I save the .HTML file. I'll try forcing it in there with Notepad.

The parameters in .htaccess are doing what they are supposed to. I took a packet trace of the web server requests and the content is no longer coming as "chunked" as was described in the original post with the possible answer.

I am not sure what is going on at this point.

So here's what's even weirder:

When the software is finished creating my "project audio button", it gives me the JavaScript code to embed in my HTML page along with the folder of 'items' to upload...

Then, along with that comes a "sample" HTML page for a "test view" of the button...THAT file loads correctly every time (it's viewed locally on my HD).

Update: I put my .htaccess file back to it's original state (deleted code you gave me to try Wil) since the sample HTML file on my server still works after removing it.

EDITED Update: Even the Sample web page with Flash Audio Wizard file loads intermittently (When I say intermittently I mean after going to Tools: Clear Private Data... and checking "Cache" and "Offline Website Data" and reloading it will sometimes show up and sometimes not...same thing with home page as well.)

I think it is time to look at another player to embed. I cannot think of anything else to try.

If the test page had given consistent results then we would look at your page to find any possible issues with it. However, that is not the case. You cannot get any simpler than the test page!

I will sleep on it and if I have any other ideas I will come back and post. If you can, try another player.

Sorry Wil I edited that post because it actually did NOT make a difference because it was so intermittent (as you can see in my edited post above)...so I have not put the new code back into the .htaccess file since I don't think it will make a difference at this point.

...'know what I mean?

Yeah...

I've been on a mission to find a GOOD software program that offers a variety of different buttons/styles/etc. but I've yet to find one.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good SOLID RELIABLE Flash audio embed player that makes creating audio buttons easy? Heh.

  I use Flowplayer from Flowplayer - Flash Video Player for the Web
  
  It is a video player, but it is extremely flexible and there is no reason you cannot use it for audio-only as well. The cool thing is that using JavaScript controls, you can create you "button" images to look like anything you want and use JavaScript calls to do things like Play/Pause/Stop/Rewind/Mute/Volume Up/Volume Down/etc.
  
  It is not the easiest player to configure, but once you figure it out, it ROCKS!

So here's something kind of funny (Yeah, haven't went to bed yet - I'm sure Wil is snoring at this point):

Checking out the actual PRODUCT SALES PAGE'S original website at How To Add Flash Audio Buttons To Your Web Page - No Monthly Fee's I noticed the player there on their site was even intermittent...heh...so apparently the entire product is faulty with today's browsers.

That is really sad because Nick (the owner behind the product) is a great guy and has been patient with me and all the eMails I've been sending to him (which he then passes on to his programmer) lately.

This thread was NOT meant to bash his product or tell people to not buy it. It has been started in an effort to FIX the fault(s) of his product in an effort to "revive" Flash Audio Wizard (because I really do like the program!).

Works on Firefox for me.

For IE, I needed to reload the page once :-)

Sometimes, after I finish a website, I go to an internet cafe and view it from there.

Different browser versions, different screen resolutions, different security and javascript settings etc. It can often be eye-opening :-)

Thanks George, but I've decided to simply put in a quick Flash video by Camtasia Studio.

It loads quickly and looks good. I'll stick with that. I don't have time to keep trying to figure out Flash Audio Wizard at the moment. Hopefully SEO Help Videos - Internet Marketing also loads nicely for everyone on all browsers now.

I've tried FF 3.0.5 & IE 7 - I cant see it on either of those, even if I refresh.

Maybe you could start again - create a new page and add each component one at a time, leaving the video til last. Make sure each bit works & see at what point it stops working - at least then you know where the problem is... just a thought - I'm not too good on the techie side so that's what i do when my page wont play the game.

  I hope you're referring to the blue button mentioned in the OP picture because I've removed that blue button and replaced it with a Camtasia video instead.

At this very point in time, it should work on every browser flawlessly AND load quickly. Keep in mind I'm no longer using the "blue" button that the OP referred to. I'm now using a small flash video created with Camtasia 6.

I do not see the button.
go to World Wide Web Consortium - Web Standards and validate you HTML (left column) I found 12 errors on your page. One of them may be the cause.

w3.org is the first place I go when I create a webpage of a new CSS file.
