Guru A, B, and C are on board. O Really?

I'm not sure how others feel about this, but since I get flooded with JV requests all the time I thought I'd let some other Warriors know about something that tends to never work with me when trying to close the deal for me to promote for you.

If you send me a JV request and it says....

"We have guru a, guru b, guru c, guru d, and guru e all on board to promote this huge launch"...

... then it's a great chance that I want little to do with your launch. I mean let's face it, Many of us all have the same leads as the next guy, so why in the world would I want to promote something that everyone and their mother is already promoting?

I know it's a social proof element to show other JV's that you have some heavy hitters on your side. But with myself, I have a instant negative reaction if I know that I'm going to be promoting alongside everyone and their mother.

This is not intended as a negative rant or anything of the sort. I'm just saying, if you want me on board for a JV I prefer to have a good chance of making sales. I don't want to get in bonus war slug outs with product whores who diminish their $2000 course for a $197 commission. Nor do I want to pummel my email subscribers with the same template swipes you gave to 6 other gurus.

If you want to get me excited about promoting your stuff then please don't mention the 800 other dudes that are on board. It may mean a lot to you, but it's a total turn off to me as an affiliate and will likely result in a answer of "No" to your JV request.

Ask me for a private teleseminar for my people and my ears tend to perk up a lot more!

    Jason,

I never promote anything when that O Really
guy is promoting it. A name like that is just
    unbelieveable.

Yup. Totally agree. I've bailed on promotions when I found out that a few hundred others were promoting. I don't like being part of the herd, and I want to bring my list something that they're not seeing everybody else pushing.

In return, I did the same with my latest launch. Sent out individual, personalized invites to a small number of hand-picked marketers. Happier affiliates, no burnt out servers, an enjoyable launch that let me sit back and sip a good glass (or three) of Jameson.

He must have been drunk when he picked the people on the list, because I got one of the invites. Let me tell you, getting a real, 1:1 pitch for a launch was a surprise. I looked at it very closely, which I almost never do.

That's most of the battle, folks. Being taken seriously. Kevin managed it. Well, for his launch, anyway...

I'm not 100% opposed to promoting big launches or crowded launches as I obviously always promote Frank and few select friends.

It's just in general, when I see that line in a email that says....

"I have so and so, and this dude, and that guy", it isn't a very favorable thing for me. Just something to think about next time your are mailing potential JV partners. Others may feel the same way.

"Bonus slanging" has always been a deal breaker for me as a buyer...

    It really chaps my hide!

It diminishes the product and the marketer...

I mean, If it's done tastefully... that's one thing!

I appreciate clever marketing and strategic sales tactics...

But... when giving a bonus, turns into a fire sale(kitchen sink included) just to entice me to buy the new twist--I'd rather pass.
