Hey Warriors,

I went to my lawyer yesterday to finish some paper work but I forgot to mention that I need to register a trademark so I am going next week again, from your experience should I register a Trademark in my country ( Canada) or should I make it international ?

I know he would have the answer but I want to take your opinion in case anybody did it before..also if I have a trademark registered in Canada you think it would cover USA too?

Thanks

Generally, trademarks cover only in the countries or jurisdictions they're enacted on or have
mutual agreements/treaties with. U.S. trademarks only apply in the U.S. and its territories,
    Canada only Canada, etc.

There is what's called the Madrid Protocol, but that's if you can afford it. OTOH, there are a
few methods to handling, say, domain-trademark disputes even if you only have a trademark
in country A while the domain's owner is in country B.

After all, the likes of Google and Facebook started only in the U.S. before being able to afford
greater, broader protection for and by themselves everywhere else.
