I'm Experienced, successful(!) but jaded and in need of help

Been at this game in a non IM/MMO niche for about 6 years.

Biggish list, great email sequence, tons of giveaway goodies, lots of loyal repeat customers but.......

I've been stuck on around $12,000 a month for probably 3 years now.

I know how to do adwords and get about 100 new subscribers a day for $25.

Lots of free traffic from other places but I feel like I'm taking 1 step forwards then 1 step back.

I'm a fairly regular contributor here (but was too embarrassed to post as me....sorry blush).....and I'm knowledgable but......wtf....I'm stuck.

Any of you experienced folks been where I am now?

How did you get out of it. What did you do to make that 'push'.

To most people I live the dream but I am definitely working harder for the same result.

I think I'm looking for a mental breakthrough rather that a 'what to do' breakthrough...hope that makes sense.

Thanks guys

Start a new biz. With the knowledge you have it shouldn't be a problem.
Besides, diversifying is good for you anyways.

I know the feeling and trust me, it's easier to start something new so you've got two or more businesses working for you. Plus the excitement of a new business venture will also give your productivity a boost.

You're way ahead of the game, look at the fundamentals, have you got a sales funnel, what's missing if anything, look at how you've got things set up, if your making that kind of money, there is'nt much wrong, start from the basics.Good luck anyways.

    Hope this helps

You want help but you've created a new forum profile in order to ask for it?

Maybe you should start by being honest with us and yourself. While you're too "embarrassed" to openly talk about your situation and goals giving you general random advice on the off-chance that something might peek your interest seems like a waste of time.

Dishonest? I don't think so. I told you I'd created the new ID.

    How is that dishonest?

You don't know me yet you make big assumptions?

I actually asked if anyone her had a similar experience not just looking for some random advice.

I didn't manage to get as far as I have by just looking for random advice as you put it.

I think Andy's comment was said with the best intentions. Dont take it personally dude.

I tend to agree with his comment, and would most likely be much more responsive if you had of just posted under your usual username.

Besides, if you're an established member here, you're only bound to get better support/suggestions, surely?

Nothing to be embarrased about at all.

Look - actually all I wanted was for you to put some meat on the bones of your request so that we could actually give you good feedback that might help you.

I don't know what you think you can't be up front about your situation.

I was $100k in debt and getting divorced a few years ago. My dad just died this morning and my step-mom earlier this week. But I'm still here, debt-free and looking to help you. If you're looking for a pity party then I won't waste my time, but if you want actual help you need to give us more to go on.

Johnny seemed to get where I was coming from so we're probably both to blame for the misunderstanding.

The reason a lot of newbies get pissed when they come here is because they don't realise that they're getting in their own way when trying to solicit help and when they don't immediately get 100 people praising them for "taking action" they spit their dummy out.

This is a forum of all types of people. You're not always going get the response you want - some people don't like BS, some people love to shoot the **** about anything just to pass the time.

I made my reply hoping you'd come back with a properly phrased request I could respond to, but it looks like you've already chucked your toys out.

Is it too late now? or do you still want advice?

Thanks for the comments Johnny but ....being where I am right now is extremely embarrassing.

There are many reasons why I didn't post under 'me'...I certainly wasn't trying to be dishonest...just the opposite in fact.

Maybe I reacted badly but it felt like I was being jumped on....it was a genuine cry for help from experienced guys....just didn't feel very supportive. I don't know what I expected really but not to be accused of dishonesty.

Maybe my expectation level was too high?

Your thread does lead to assumptions:

-That you are posting as a highly successful marketer others should follow
-That you may be running WSOs or selling/building lists here
-That maintaining a reputation you've build is more important than being honest...both on the WF and with your family

Everyone has insecurities - any business may need a course correction to reach the next plateau. There's nothing wrong with the question you asked....a lot wrong with the approach you use.

Well, given your level of experience, I would suggest networking and rubbing shoulders with other marketers that are making $25-$50,000 a month.

Just this alone might be enough inspiration to get you out of this slump?

This is exactly right. Network with people who are where you want to be.

      --OR--

You know what always gets me out of a slump, or a depression? Forgetting about myself and focusing on something outside of myself. Giving back, paying it forward, helping younger and more inexperienced people focus and reach their goals.

Often times, just being around those creative people is everything I need, and they help me just as much as I help them... I help them focus, and they remind me how to think creatively.

      *****

And for those of you who have expressed loss in this thread, I am sorry for your loss and while I'm not a good shoulder to cry on, I'll give you a kick in the rump if it makes you fall into a slump.

    nairns,

By posting as yourself and admitting that you have challenges would actually make everyone feel normal instead of feeling that the 'experts' are always making money and never have any challenges.

Hearing a well known forum member admit to some challenges would be more encouraging to everyone around you AND knowing the general giving spirit in this forum, you would probably get some really good advice from people who genuinely care.

WTF! I bet U got that off my chest...lol
Just what I was going to suggest...If U want to earn what the millionaires earn, U've got to think like they do & the only way you can do that is to interact and spend TIME with them.(They r usually expensive though)

If you spend too much time with low income earners...I give you 6months & (Oops!) Ur income would be sinking.
    I hope that helped.
    Cheers!

I agree, if you want to go further with your income, you need to learn" new things"i bet you started from the lowest point like everyone else and been learning all the way to the big money. And this is where you had your circle of the same people who do this, but you are not in this circle anymore and you have a new path now, where a new circle of new people begins and new approtunities. For the " big boys" you maybe just a beginner :>. But i would agree with *DianaHeuser* here, you could teach alot the members of this forum and encourage them to work hard : ), share your experience .

    I have a few thoughts.

    1. you can only do so much "work" you may have yourself locked into a situation where its only feasible time and effort wise to deal with XX amount of customers and make XX amount of money. Creating a better "end game" sales funnel might be the answer to uping your income.

    2. I did hit a similar situation after about 5 years in business. what I found was that for me, I needed to unclutter my business life. I dropped or sold off lots off small projects. I shut down legacy offers and just deleted the pages. It allowed me to clear my mind up a lot and free up lots of mental energy to focus on moving my business forward rather than just keeping it on the tracks.

    3. even after the uncluttering, I was still left with lots of "angles" to my various online efforts. I decided to sell of most of them, and concentrate on two projects. This also helped me to focus on things and to build top tier sites/services/businesses in just a couple of industries.

    4. I learned to let go of my business and hire real true professionals to help me out in various ways. I read a quote many years ago that stuck with me " I don't pay good wages because I am rich, I am rich because I pay good wages. The point is to quite messing with low cost unprofessional workers and to pay up to get real professionals who are much more hands off.

    5. You also need to identify what your end game will look like. What are you aiming for? if 12k per month is not enough, would 25k per month be? For me, I decided I wanted to build my 2 remaining businesses into valuable sellable assets that I could "cash out" for a big lump sum payment. That goal helped me to manage the business in a way that would lead me to that goal. A few years later I accomplished that goal when I was able to sell those 2 businesses for a nice little profit.

All of the other replys aside, most of which I agree with, I suspect there's another issue for you.

Are you suffering from depression? Not making assumptions just asking because your approach suggests feelings of insecurity and helplessness.

Could be wrong, but I'd bet that you're also still reading this thread in anticipation of help.

    Good luck either way.

I'm also an experienced marketer and I understand your problem. Of course to those who are nowhere near your income your problem sounds like "the worries of the rich", but you have your own baseline and being stuck sucks.

    Here's my advice:

    1. Get a Kundalini yoga DVD with meditation "Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond" on Amazon, and do it every day for a month. You should see results. I understand that yoga might not be your thing, but that particular kind of yoga does tend to lead to "mental breakthroughs".

    2. Buy a book "Reality Transurfing" on Amazon (it's a series, start with book #1).

    Good luck!

I think you need to take it a notch down and start outsourcing most of your tasks. I think your problem is stress because the $12k/monthly can hardly be a problem. You're at a point many others just dream of.

Also..you don't sound like your actual desire is to make more....respective your current dis-satisfaction or unhappiness might not be solved by making more than what you're making already?!

Re Andy's point about being upfront.

    He's right.

It would now take a lot of courage to let us know who you really are. However this would not only earn you the respect of beginners and experienced marketers alike, I'm sure it would also help you too. As others have alluded to, how can you really be in a position to receive 'in depth' help if you are anonomous, also your point about newbies being rebuked on the forum wasn't reflective of the context of your question. I've yet to see a newbie question originating from a genuine forum identity not being treated sensitively.

12k a month isn't bad at all but I understand why you must be frustrated that your income is not increasing at all. Why don't you try and set up a new business? Think of something new and innovative. I am sure you have a lot of IM knowledge - try something different from what you are doing to earn a different income. It's worth the risk.
