Hi guys

I'm battling my way with Squidoo trying to get a decent placement with it. . . and I'm wondering if it is still as a good tool as it was a couple of years ago? Should I keep battling, or give it up as a lost cause?

Any hints / tips would be welcome.

Why such a desire to rank a page that doesn't belong to you, which you can never own or control yourself?

In my opinion, it isn't at all.

I think it gives you very little (if anything) that you can't get for yourself, elsewhere, on a site which you own yourself, and without being subject to Squidoo's ever-changing terms of service, restrictions and limitations.

I used to use it as part of a backlinking strategy, but gave it up a long time ago.

These little threads might help you ... (there's really a lot of information here) ...

    • It depends on if you are using the features of it to their fullest potential. A lot of people don't realize that Squidoo is built to rank, and if you do the right things you get all that nice internal link juice, and don't really have to do much for many keywords.

You can get lenses ranked and you can make money with Squidoo, but the lenses have to sell products that people want to buy, the lenses must be of good length and quality, and you need a diverse amount of back links.

The longest that I ever struggled with a lens was for 3 months of solid link building, but it was well worth it. Usually 3 - 4 weeks per lens I find to be the norm.

  • For me personally squidoo is more used the SEO purposes as opposed to any form of revenue stream, I do like to blast my lens with backlinks but don't take the time to build any form of ranking behind it.

  • If you'd like to post a link to your lens, I might be able to help with some tips.
  • It's a good tool, used to be a great tool. All thngs change and we need to adapt and find other ways. Keep using it but find alternatives also that drive traffic.
  • Squidoo should just be used as a back linking strategy that also has the capability to bring you in some extra income.
  • Yeah i wouldnt use it as a main site
  • Squidoo can be a decent source of traffic if you know how to rank highly with your lenses. Personally, I still use Squidoo because it's a fun content posting platform and there are a few minor SEO benefits you receive for each page you create. I split the time between releasing new blog posts on my Internet marketing site and publishing lenses on Squidoo. Don't use it as your primary source of obtaining traffic or generating revenue, unless you want to spend a considerable amounts of time learning how to do so. Instead, use it as a means of escaping all of the other SEO tasks on your list while still being productive.

    • As i said on anoother thread just use them for a backlink, they will take you down as fast as you can get it up. do not use a submitter
  • Squidoo is a great way to get your name out there. And start your Internet marketing adventure. Squidoo helps you with backlinks, and overall learning how to create valuable content and information that is going to help you alone the way. I find that being a giant squid on squidoo I have the chance to really get my name out there. Even if the pages arent mine, complete. It also is nice to have money sent to you around the 15th of each month!
  • Do you mean you are trying to get a good lensrank? Don't even worry about lensrank. Make lenses that make you money in other ways and who cares about the lensrank. If you hit s topic with enough traffic, the lensrank will come.

Squidoo is very lucrative for some - but mostly people who have been there for a few years (they've figured out what works and what doesn't). I only make squidoo lenses around Christmas time.

I did 2 halloween lenses last year though and they did great.
  • p.s. there is a squidoo group on facebook that is quite active. take your questions there and you'll get lots of help.

  • The battle in keeping your pages indexable is easily achieved by three things:

    1) After creating your page, link to it from an already indexed page such as a quality free directory listing.

    2) Interlink your squidoo pages to each other.

    3) ALWAYS enable comments and encourage discussion as content freshness raises the "squidoo rank".

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi
Squidoo is still good to feed your money site etc. One still has to apply SEO to get the rankings. I would still keep on trying as even the smallest tweat could improve your rankings by far
    Peace Barry
  • If you see a Lens falling close to the 400k Lens Rank be sure to keep them updated. You will lose your related Lens links if they fall below that threshold.

Try different but similar keywords in your Lens Title and Tags. Google will rank your Lens high you just have to find the right keywords.

I see others and have several Lens ranked 1st page in G with no backlinking or outside effort.
It usually takes about a month for the Lens to settle in Google.
