Using coupon to launch membership site?

Wondering what your thoughts are on offering a limited time coupon to launch a membership site (sending it through the list, twitter, FB etc)? I'm thinking 15% off for life or something like that.

My only concern is that I don't want people to then wait for another coupon before signing up...I don't want to set a precedent and then folks expect a coupon. I'm thinking it might be ok if I say it is a one time only thing, but curious about what people here think.

    Rather than offer a coupon you could set the price 15% lower anyways and say that in X number of days the price will go up. Creates the scarcity/immediate action effect.

    It might be a better option than the coupon...
