I'm doing pretty well. The trick is coming up with your own method for coming up with quick, high quality books or finding a way to outsource them cheaply.

Quick, high quality, and cheap ebook simply does not exist.

You have to work and market yourself to succeed on Kindle - it is a tough market, there are millions of books from hundreds of thousands of self-published authors. You need to get noticed which is a big task.

Just like anything you got to put in the hard work to get anything working. I have found that the hardest thing in IM is research. Get that done and then its downhill from there.

    Good luck!!

You just have to get creative. I have a few ways I come up with my ebooks and they are very quick and I can create high quality books my readers love.

I also have methods that include outsourcing about 80% of the book very cheaply and then I just edit and add until I've got the final book.

It is easy to get noticed with some good niche research and a good number of books in the market.

I'm doing very well with Kindle. December sales were double those in November. I have already passed December's sales this month.

It's easy if you are a writer. It's much harder to succeed if you are a marketer.

Sounds good Amanda. Are the majority of your books non fiction such as How To's and about how long are they?

Are you making most of your income from the sale of your books or from driving traffic to websites with affiliate programs?

They are all non-fiction and they are anywhere from 10 pages to well over 100 pages.

I make the money from the books themselves as well as through affiliate offers once I have buyers on my list.

Right now I have about 10. I had closer to 40 but I then I decided to start working harder with list building so I need to make edits to my older books.

You are doing well. Re-purposing the content. You can use it creating videos, other articles or blog posts. Thanks for sharing Amanda!

All this Kindle talk has inspired me. I made a cover - now to write the book haha. Maybe that sounds backwards but I can see my idea now.

Amanda, how are you driving traffic to sign up to your lists? Do they click thru to a website listed in the ebook and join? Or how are you working that?

    Yes, definitely.

Lots of opportunity if you write great content, format it properly, and market the heck out of it.

Many people falsely assume they can just put PLR up there or even write a decent book and it will automatically sell itself. While that may happen in rare instances, like anything else, you need some strong marketing behind it to make it sell well.

That's right Paul, what's the marketing method are you using to make it happen?

Build a brand for yourself by writing quality books.

Build a list from your readers.

    Repeat and grow.

How-to books work great. Pick small niches. Tiffany Dow outlined most of how I pick my niches in this thread:

I make a small mention of my website in the preface of the book and then talk about it more on the last page of the book, including a link to my website.

All this talks about Kindle is very interesting. Someone mentioned about doing the eCovers first - you know, that was exactly what I did when I began. Anyways, it's because I am an expertise on a niche that is not a very popular money making niche so I use kindle to drive traffic to my site.

For starters, it is very time consuming to spend time to promote your kindle books, but I suppose those work. I am actually using the reverse principle to get Amazon to go to my sites.

For people who want to get into kindle, this is the best time to get in kindle because of the KDP select program that was put out in December. My sales just shot up. What was so 'ironic' was that I was selling a book for $1.17 and I had 19 sales and 24 people borrowing. The 24 people who borrowed in December got me $40.75 Royalty whereas the 19 people who bought got me only $7.79. This is 'reverse engineer'.

So what I did for January was that I changed all the $1.17 to $3.17 so that I can get 70% Royalty and hopefully to drive people to 'borrow' rather than buy.

But what I could not figure out was why would people want to 'borrow' a book that is only worth $1.17. I am still investigating into this reason why.

Another thing is that with the KDP select program, they allow you to have 5 promotions for your book. Because I have about 200+ books, so I could test drive them to see how to get more sales. In the past, it was very difficult to get your books seen but this new program shoots you up with 1 or 2 promotions. Not only do I get a few sales on these books but I also get so many units borrowed, like 53, 37, 36, 33....etc. It's becoming a number game for me now. You need to sit down to figure out your units but they just increase.

My December and January sales reports far exceeded all my combined months last year. I don't know when Amazon is going to change but now the KDP select program is free, so I would suggest people to use it now and get your books up quickly.

It's better to do HIGH QUALITY books because you want people to keep buying and do what they are already reading. And the thing is that what they are already reading, they keep buying. You would think they would stop buying on the same topic. They don't seem to have enough. Maybe it is just like IM and this warrior forum. LOL!!!

we are doing pretty good with kindle, I would not say we are making off like bandits, but making solid income by just seeing what books are popular and following trends. And stay away from plugging and selling IM stuff on kindle...it does really POORLY!
