So, looks like the gov. started shutting down file-sharing sites.
Megaupload - the 13th most popular web site in the world have been shut down as of today.

Your thoughts?

While SOPA has not been passed, it is certainly showing that governments wanted to from the censorship of megaupload, our rights are being taken away from right under our noses this has to be one of the biggest atrocities for a long time.

This has very little to do with SOPA considering the owners of the site were arrested on charges in New Zealand and the site taken down because of it.

This is why SOPA and PIPA are not needed.

The US Gov. has been "shuttering" sites around the globe with the cooperation of many countries.

Our government already has the powers they need to do that and has been doing it a lot over the last couple years. Also copyright owners already have the DMCA at their disposal.

PIPA and SOPA are about giving corporations easier paths to legally enact and enforce DNS blocking that the US government already uses.

To see how the US Government has been taking down sites for some time and shutting down legitimate sites in the process already check this out: http://torrentfreak.com/u-s-governme...istake-110216/
