Quick Site Flipping Question!

Hey guys!

I would like to start flipping websites. I was browsing Sitepoint's marketplace and I see that most of the sites sold for approx $120 don't contain any unique articles, just "high quality SE optimized PLR" articles. How can they sell those site if they are not even unique?

I have hired a writer to write me articles. I plan to add 10 unique articles to every site I want to flip.

My question is, will the site's value increase or decrease if I publish some PLR articles too?

Thank you for your time!

Gary

I wouldn't mix unique and PLR - I've sold sites with just PLR, just unique articles, and a mixture of both. The PLR always ends up devaluing a site with unique articles.

      Hi.

Interesting. Is this also the case if the PLR articles is rewritten to over 40% unique content?

      Thanks.

Yeah - just stick with unique. I think people looking for unique don't want the PLR so it doesn't add anything.

As a flipper, unique content with unique domain name makes the difference

Go for unique. It is believed that unique articles ranked better on search engines -- which is one of the reasons why buyers buy sites that have unique articles.

PLR stands for Private Label Right.

If you are getting unique articles done, there is no point in adding PLR content to the blog. It simply decreases the value of sale rather than increasing it.

After some interviews with some of my previous buyers, I realized that some buyers are interested in PLR articles instead of unique ones because sites with PLR are cheaper and they don't intend to do well through search engines.

    Nooo Desmond,

I sell site at $1,200 and thats cool for its money. Your flipping value decrease with plr.

Think of how may people uses same plr.
Note also that some people cannot and would not rewrite. You have a duty to advise your clients so they can have meaningful results from your service

Have you heard of duplicate content penalty? SEs can ban your pages for duplicate content and it makes them hard to index.

I thought the duplicate content penalty was for duplicate content found on the same website. Did I miss something?

What other reason is there for articles on EZA etc. than to use the articles?

Millions of sites would be "banned" just because they re-use content, i just dont see this being the case. Its a myth.

HOWEVER...i think there might be interesting options to actually get to real unique content, eg. using mailing lists, usenet/groups archives or newspaper archives.

This would be content which is NOT in any google index, and it would be interesting to compare such content in terms of ranking, indexing.

People go to LENGTHS with rewriting and whatever methods to achieve "unique" content from existing sources...instead of thinking "out of the box".

Yes, there is no duplicate content penalty (I've tested and proven this on my own sites as many have here in the forum too).

However, I think the general perception is that there is some sort of dupe content penalty. Just look at how many people post here at WF about it even though several people have proved it not to be so.

So I think the general person buying a new website with no earnings will lean towards unique content because they still believe in the dupe penalty. If the site is earning then I think no one really cares whether it is PLR or unique.

After some interviews with some of my previous buyers, I realized that some buyers are interested in PLR articles instead of unique ones because sites with PLR are cheaper and they don't intend to do well through search engines.
That's very interesting, I never considered that people might actually want PLR for this reason.
