Blog which way is best

someone is in the process of setting a public Blog and have a question for all you SEO folks.
From an SEO perspective and to ensure that prospective clients can find a businesses Blog site. Is it best to use an existing service like Blogger.com or create a page on your own website and use Wordpress or set up a separate blog on Wordpress.org and link it to the main site.

    I believe that it is best to setup a Wordpress blog hosted on your own domain. That way - you will never have to worry about your blog being shut down. You can customize your Wordpress blog for SEO as well.

    I'm no SEO expert, but if it were my client I definitely would not put them on a blogspot. I would either use theirdomain.com/blog or a self hosted Wordpress blog that pointed back to the main site.

    I would also vote for your setting up a WordPress Blog on your existing hosting account with it's own domain name. WordPress is not difficult to optimize and you will find SEO optimized WP themes readily available.

    I would probably set up a website AND a blog on their own domain. As to what platform to use, either is fine as long as you can optimize the platform.

    Here is a good reason to use BLOGGER. Because Google owns it, your blog will get crawled fast. Unlike a wordpress blog that rarely gets updated by Google, a blogger blog will be in the results super fast.

    Even a lowly PR2 blogger blog will often outrank a PR5 web page on a given topic. Google might also start to like KNOL over other services as time goes by. Blogger is free and rarely down due to hackers. In contrast, my competitors will hack attack my site with no mercy until they crash it or my host kicks me out due to incessant ping storms.

    This year 2009, I have gone thru three hosts already.
