Website Critique needed in Deadly Niche!

Hi everyone
for my bricks and mortar business I have been building a membership site. I have nearly finished the sales page and I desperately need some constructive criticism on the following:-
1) the Video on the sales page
2) the overall look and feel of the page
3) the power of conversion element

and any other things that you may think will help with the overall impact of the page.

many thanks in advance
here is the site Willsforadvisers.co.uk

mark
PS Its not completely finished so there are some elements that dont quite work yet.

A bit off topic, but you just reminded me that my will is well out of date..

From the brief look I took, your site looked good, nice and clean, I watched some of the vid and it didn't look too hypy.

    Good luck with it

    Kim

      Hi,

      I have seen your website. My thoughts;
      1. Video should not pop out, it diverts visitors away
      2. The testimonials should be are written in bigger fonts, putting them out
of propotion. They should be smaller and in italics.
      3. The pictures on the testimonials are absent.

      otherwise great job.

Thanks Kim and sexy sue (great name) for your critique
I had the Video intentionally not too hypy as the target market is not used to hyped up internet marketing as they are quite a conservative bunch.

sexy sue I know what you mean about the Video in a light box, the problem is that the Video is 1260 x 720 and if I use a smaller size video player it seems to put everything out of perspective i.e. people either look taller and thinner or shorter and fatter depending on what size I use.
Re the testimonials I am waiting for the photos of the people (yes they are real people that will be doing the testimonials)

        Thanks for you help
        Mark

Very good job on the video itself. I see you used Animoto for the video creation and combined it with something else. Very good job, it looks professional.

I would make the video auto-play when the site is visited, without having to click it to watch the video.

As for the sales page... I would make a few lines first about the problems your customers are having... Like: "Does it seem unrealistic to... blah blah" "Have you ever felt like... blah blah"... This should make them more interested in what you have to offer to them.

I do not claim to be a great copywriter, but this is what many high-quality copywriters do and seem to work fine to me.

      Thanks Trevor
I have always been concerned about Videos that autoplay when you enter the site. I personally hate it and most times I quickly hit the back button as it annoys me so much. Do you think that having it autoplay would help rather than the user being in control?
Maybe Im just an old fart who wants to be in control!!

Well, I think it depends on the nature of the video. If it is one with an extremely annoying sound playing in the background, it might not be a good idea to make it auto-play. This doesn't seem to be your case, however.

All in all, I would test both options and see if there is any difference at all. If there is, stick with what works better.

Hi Mark. As sexy sue said, the testimonial are a bit weird. I would use a box for them. At first I didn't see there were testimonials. I thought it belongs to the description above.

I don't like how the vide looks on the homepage. Why isn't the same width and hight as the original? It doesn't seem professional. And I don't like that the video pop-up either.

    Anyway, good job.

      Thanks Samuel
Yes I think I am going to do away with the Lightbox for the Video. Its a different size to the image on the pages as thats what is an image that is click able that plays the video in the lightbox.

re The testimonials yes again you are right these need to be sorted I was waiting for the Pictures of the people giving the testimonials and the theme I am using which is Optimizepress provides these testimonial boxes an the more I look at them the more they don't look right.

Do you think the page is set up correctly to convert. I was thinking of having a pop for a free set of videos or report to get them on a list what do you think?

    |think you do right not having a long boring sales page, they are so out of date!

Nice and concise with the good stuff above the fold.

As to the vid, why don't you have it auto play with the option of turning it off

    Cheers
