At least a dozen major Internet portals, the trio led by Google, Facebook and Twitter plan to close their sites on 23 January, to protest the passage of the law in the United States SOUP.

The three largest Internet companies, Google, Facebook and Twitter and Wikipedia and Amazon have joined to promote the "closing" of their websites on January 23, 24 hours before the deadline for the approval of the controversial law.

I don't think this is true...another article I read says that a "group" will shut down Facebook. I see a lot of articles, but no sources....which makes me believe it's all BS.

I'm not seeing the articles on any "more trustworthy" sites either.

This is news to me, as well. However, I wouldn't expect things to be very quiet over the next couple of days.

My favorite part is how this blog post says, "The three largest..." And then lists five.

That's a BS article. Don't even know how to spell the legislation they're talking about. It's not SOUP. It's SOPA.

This is not true, they have suspended the bills forever.
They learned their lessons from all the support against the bill.

THIS is not true. Not even slightly.

Except, perhaps for the SOUP bill.
