If you want to be an affiliate you can just go ahead and promote it - no need to buy the product

If you want to give an honest review then buying the product is recommended

If you want to give a dishonest review like most internet marketers do, then you can use the review provided on the jv page if there is one, have a professional write an original review or spin a review

There are two main review types.

    1. You can use the product and review
    2. Be the 'reporter' and review

Your review will be a lot better and get higher conversions
if you actually use the product because you can do videos
    and things.

But to answer your question. No you do not have to use the product.

It's often better to buy the product, if you can afford to do so, before reviewing. You'll be giving your unique perspective.

However, if you can't do that, then choose review a product that has lots of user reviews on it already. Amazon products, for example are really good about providing that information that can help you create product reviews. Besides, people trust Amazon.

There's a blog post by Terry Lynn that offers tips on how to write a decent product review: http://www.clicknewz.com/1995/how-to...roduct-review/

It's true. Money is in the list, but it also depends on what you're promoting. If you're trying to sell shoes on Amazon, you don't really need a list.

However, a list can really revolutionize your ability to make money. Lists are really good for niches where you teach people things: weight loss, internet marketing, etc.

Since you're new, I recommend starting off promoting Amazon products or something like that to get your feet wet first.

Allways buy the product to review if you can before promoting it.
unless your promoting amazon products but even then if you can buy
        it's best.

In my experience with software affiliate sales, developers will send you licensed NFR (Not For Resale) review copies for free. I prefer to work with the products myself and make screenshots and custom examples. (I also don't like to use developer-provided banner ads and such because they look generic. I make my own using their logos and my own photos, or sometimes theirs, depending.)

As plugsnpixels said you could get a review copy. This being, all the product sellers may not respond positively (or at all) to your request. At least this is my experience. However, I think that it can be beneficial to send a mail about it.

For the review of the product, it helps to know what the product is and if the sales letter has been truthful. Moreover, I find it more interesting to make a review that includes a video of the product being promoted.

That is true, not all developers respond. So you move on. If they're not interested in me promoting their products, I'm not interested.

But many do reply, though sometimes it takes awhile. NFR's are industry-standard practice.

    Hi Amitdave,

Now that you have done some research, it`s time to follow a reputable Internet Marketer.

    Here`s what you should do:

Don't buy anything yet and subscribe to newsletter from different reputable Internet Marketer. Good Marketer usually give good content away for free to beginners.

Than, I would thoroughly look at different WSOs and look at all the comments from WF users that are involved or registered to a specific WSO. Than, once you've found a few good ones (WSOs) I would look at the Internet Marketer's profile that have promoted that WSO and see if he has a good reputation in the forum as a whole. More often than not, a reputable Marketer member to WF has more than one offer (WSO). Nothing is stopping you from looking at all the comments and critics in all his WSOs so that you'll have a better idea of the Internet Marketer's reputation.

Once you've registered into a program (WSO) stay focus so that you don't become overwhelmed by the information overload of Internet Marketing in general.

Don't pay more than 497$ for a program (WSO), there's a lot of good ones at a lot less than 497$. Post your questions before getting involved on the type of commitment, the forecast expenses during the program, the type of skills needed, etc.

    Hope this help,

    David

  • I would say it depends on the product. For example I am in the business of ranking Amazon review sites. I don't buy each product before I review it though because I an get all the information I need from Amazon themselves about the product. I also add reviews from real users including their feedback.

What I wouldn't advise is making reviews up about products you have no experience with. Often when it comes to digital products reviews will be fake, so in this case I wouldn't go on existing reviews for my site. When I review digital product, which is not often, they are always products I have used before, but with physical products like Amazon stuff, I don't.

I don't think you have to buy the product to review it. Just some research and common sense can make for a very attractable review. I do advise you to remain ethical in your promotions. I.e. Don't post a testimonial that you know is probably fake or a downright lie. If you stick to informing the potential customer about the product you'll reap the rewards in the long run!
