G'day Warriors,

Just a short post and I hope someone gets the information and it saves them some pain.

I launched a WSO, Won a competition and got best seller of the day at JVZOO.

ALL Really good stuff.

THEN, a few people started posting to my wso thread negatively.

Of course I was away from computer and only found out late this afternoon.

In My haste to launch, I uploaded the wrong product file and cost myself a LOT of money and managed to get some excellently BAD reviews.

I Immediately fixed the problem, but the damage is done, I missed a MASSIVE amount of sales through HASTE!

What this has caused me to do is create a product launch checklist, Its in Draft at the moment and I am going to stick it to my wall, right in front of my face.

Wish I had prepared BETTER, I made 3 versions of my software and managed to piss off many people by giving the wrong one that had my Links in it.

PLEASE PREPARE your launches and products and make sure everything is correct before launch, even buy a copy off yourself to test the system and see how it works.

TRUST ME it will save you MUCH pain, lost sales and negative feedback on your thread.

I feel Like an Idiot! I am going to drink some beer and cry for a little while. I'll still answer support requests though. LOL

Hope this saves someone.

Oda

Ouch, but very true. This should be something everyone does in any business venture.

    Good luck on the recovery.

We all make mistakes, learn from it and move on

Probably best you learn it this way and not later on when more may be invested..

Don't beat yourself up, it sucks but it's not the end of the world-- or your WSO.

Explain to the people that complained or feel hurt your mistake, apologize, and offer them something good without expecting anything in return.

Some won't get over it, but the mature ones will, and those are the customers you want, anyway.

Best wishes man. Next time will be better for you.

Hey it's alright man. Roll with the punches and chalk it up as a learning experience that will help you adapt to do even better on your next one than you could have without this experience.

    Congrats on taking action.

Ugh. So sorry! However, you shared some really good advice.

Lots of business books will tell you that success often comes with failure. As a result, my sister is fond of saying "fail fast" and move on.

You get bonus points for having taken action and the mistakes are only a learning opportunity that will help you get better and better the more you take action. Very thoughtful of you to share your lessons with us, too!

it happens to us all, has happened a couple of times with my wsos in the past, i think the main thing is to be able to be standing by when you launch just in case of problems so you can fix them straight away

btw i bought your wso and it didn't cause me a problem that you made a mistake

    cheers

    Been there, done it...

We launched a mega bit of software a few years ago and had affiliates and customers waiting with bated breath for us to go live. I wasn't convinced we were ready to launch and begged my partner to wait 24 hours so we were more prepared but because we had so many people waiting on the launch time he decided to go.

Worst mistake we ever made, lots of negative comments and a number of refunds had to be paid out. It worked out in the end, but it left a bad taste. The check list is an excellent idea

Well, lessons learned I guess... but I think it's a common mistake in IM. Ppl don't take the time to do stuff that they should. Better to wait 1 - 2 extra days and maybe earn a few $100 extra right?

    Good post and good tip!

I totally agree that you should try buying the product with your credit card and trying using the product you get with the purchase, even though it is yours..... we make mistakes in our coding and other places and a $0.30 transaction fee is well worth the cost to make sure that everything is working...

    I LOVE Monumental Muck-Ups.

They topple us off our self-installed pedestals and teach us humility and caution going forward. It also helps if you have a sense of humour. That way you can always laugh ... at yourself

    Well done on your recovery.

OUCH... That doesn't sound good at all. But I think your followers will understand that when you explain it. I always check three times before I do something. Good experience for you and learn from it.

Hope the next time won't happen it.

Two lessons to be learned ... Make sure everything is right and second, when you launch a WSO, do it when you have the time to babysit the thread to fix anything that needs fixed and to answer questions and talk to potential customers.

Never do a full launch without doing a pre launch.

I ALWAYS send out my product to 20 or so people on my list, and ask in advance that they review it for me. In return I GIVE them my product for free.

Its amazing what fresh eyes see.

    1. This method is also great for getting constructive, useful feedback.
    2. Allowing you to fix any issues or bugs.
    3. And most importantly, get REAL TESTIMONIALS.

I made a similar mistake over at my PLR site a while back. Since then I have made a checklist that I have to go over. I do it for each and every pack and things have gone a lot smoother since.

It's really bad that some people are so impatient and will give you negative reviews in such a short period of time. I've jumped on many WSOs at launch and many times there were glitches. But as long as I got in at the price I wanted, I didn't mind waiting a bit to get what I purchased or the problem fixed. I've never had a seller not fix the problem in a reasonable amount of time.

It's why I love having people review everything beforehand. Work out the kinks behind the scenes, and when your baby is ready for prime time, be there just in case. Hope for the best, expect the worst and, like you did, eat humble pie when the walls fall down. It's human to err, and a great human to apologize and stick with it.

    Cheers

Don't beat yourself up. There's a school of thought that says take action, even if you are not ready. Experience will also dictate what you will forget no matter how much you plan.

Yes, the WSO buyers are a freakish bunch of buyers these days.

Somehow, some WSO sellers have made them detach themselves from the entire buying process. It didn't happen overnight.

Just learn from your mistakes in this WSO and come back stronger with your next.

Man that sucks. I'm a hyper-checker of that stuff when I'm getting ready to launch because I'm scared to death to suffer the same type of incident that you did. I'm really glad that you posted in here and shared your story so everyone takes a little more time to prepare.
