Hi, I have a dilemma which domain to register?

These are examples:

Domain1: bestmanstopbrands.net exact searches 80

or

Domain2: mans-top-brands.net exact searches 1500

The structure of the domains are similliar to above, I have changed the words in them. What do you guys think? Which one would you go for an amazon affiliate site?

No second thought. I will choose the second URL.

Yea me too. The second look a lot better and if you can rank it well, you should see some decent traffic.

I was thinking along the same line. What about the hyphens in the domain? Would that be a problem with ranking?

it shouldn't be a problem. The general believe is the less hyphens in url, the better. On my experience, however, emd's with hyphens rank as well as without.

I wouldn't care about exact match domains. Use something that is catchy and describes your website well. And I wouldn't use hyphens.

You want people to remember the url. These days, it's more important to have quality unique content with new articles every week than exact match domain names. Make it attractive for your visitors so that share the website with their friends.

If you have the choice ,stick with the domains which doesn't use hypens.
search engines split the keywords in the domain name even its joined togeter. I have various website have the same creteria ,and having excellent ranking for the keywords in my domain name.
And more importantly people also hate to use hypens when comparing with typing letters .
But if you have no choice , there is nothing wrong to go with the domain with hypens

I'm not a fan of hyphens in domain names, but if its the only option to get a domain name you want that is memorable and catchy this is more important. You want something that customers will remember and is not too long for your marketing tools - like letter heads etc.

You should try siteopia.com for domain names

It really depends what sort of marketing you are going to use the domain for. The first is mucher easier to remember if you want visitors to go direct to your website. I'd check who owns the .com version though first and make sure you are competing as you may well lose some traffic to the .com if so.
2nd one is good for being better search. I'd think about picking this one up if organic search is a key part of your marketing.

I have to second this point. It really depends on how you envisage visitors reaching your site. For search engine traffic number 2, for direct entry and word of mouth spreading number 1.

Hope whatever you choose works out for the best!

Personally, I'd rather have a domain name that exactly matches a phrase that people are searching for, rather than one that people aren't searching for. Who cares if one domain is more memorable, if nobody's looking for it in the first place?

My thoughts are the same hyphens in that case here should be way better.Though all my sites are without them kinda irritating to see them don't you think?

Choose the one that can provide people with an idea of your niche and can easily remembered.

Between those two, I would use the second one. Normally hyphens are ugly, but for SEO they don't have any negative impact. Additionally, brandable domains in .net are much weaker than in .com, and the first domain would be more of a brandable domain than an exact match due to "best". If you went that route, you may as well find a .com of a similar nature instead of going with .net.

I'm big into organic traffic myself. I'm not really patient enough to consider "hey, I wanna make an online business. What should I call it?" I'm thinking "what keywords are already bringing in traffic?"

I found an awesome way to find exact match domains with keywords in virtually any niche. You should check out my fiverr gig for more details. I've already come across a ton of .com's that are exact matches for keywords with over +100,000 organic global searches/month. I can't exactly guarantee that kind of traffic but I just started a new batch of niche sites all of which I've leveraged with my system. I already have a local company paying me for these types of services. He finds a lot of value in it as do I

I wish you the best of luck with your online ventures! Let me know if I can help you with anything...I'm just getting into the SEO/SEM side of the internet. I've been a designer for years.
