One thing I have noted...

There are a lot of people starting threads with the most basic of questions which are often badly framed.

Typical examples would be 'how do I get traffic to my site', 'why can't I make money with my site'.

This in itself is perfectly fine, there is nothing wrong with asking, we all need to learn. However, when you then look at the signature, you see the site is named within the theme of 'how to make money online'.

Now, I am relatively new myself, so I won't claim an expert level of knowledge, but I do at least know a fair bit of what I am talking about, but not to a degree that I am going base my business model on something I have not yet even made a stable decent income from.

Maybe it might be an idea to at least learn your subject to a reasonable level of skill before trying to leverage income from knowledge you don't have?

Better still why not find a less competitive niche to start in, where you can bring something to teach to the table.

Luke, I think they try everything they can to make some money. I don't like it either, but at least you see who have some knowledge even with post number around 4. People with a business plan, would never ask the question they have in the signature.

I think for beginners every niche is competitive.

Although they have the answer in the signature, I like helping them. Someone should. We were on the same boat at the beginning.

Maybe because they just want to increase their posts counts. You may also notice that after they create a thread and ask question, they didn't even visit their threads again. They don't even bother to thank those member who answered their spammed questions.

Yes, that's pretty typical in the Internet Marketing world - people make money online by selling products on how to make money online

I was making a full-time income selling non-marketing products (weight loss e-books) for 2 years before I started teaching the online business techniques to others. But it's an exception rather than the rule.

Many of the traffic courses these people read teach this technique. Although most of the courses do state to add value to your posts, many just take the short cut and never follow up with their thread. I firmly believe if you create a thread, it's your baby and you need to take care of it.

Makes sense now, so they are just following some WSO?

        Luke,
it's difficult at times. Many of us dedicate some amount of time to the WF each day or week. I try to spend 15 mins a day replying to posts that i have solid knowledge in and can help.

We try to help because at some point, every last person here was New to the Game at some point. The market is Huge and there is room for many. The challenge is as stated above, someone read a product somewhere about something in IM with a Heres how you do it and thats what they do.

What i can appreciate is at least some of those people are doing what most just wont do, "TAKE ACTION" the caveat to that, is taking blind action is sometimes far worse than No Action...

Give Value, Value, Value without expectation - but its nice to be Thanked for really good replys or posts by the OP's (not in this case) but at some point we all try to give back as we can. The newbies have not figured that out yet....

        To Your Continued Success,
        Robert

I hate it when this happens. The question is generally so vague it cant be answered properly and then as someone else has said they never even come back and get involved in their own thread. I always try to monitor any threads I create and thank people within the thread for their help and contribution.

I also really appreciate it when someone thanks me for any help I have given them it makes it all worth while. I got a PM from some one this morning personally thanking me for my help - which makes you feel all warm and cosy

Tim, I don't think it's people ramping up their post count. The true post count pumpers will be in there after every reply with a thank-you post rather than hitting the thanks button. Same for the sig pimps.

I think it's more people dumping profile links, then making a lazy post to get a sig out. They never come back to the thread because they've accomplished their purpose.

That's what I find fascinating about Internet Marketing: people make money by teaching others how to teach others how to make money, lol

I remember at first that when I asked questions in here I forgort to check the box saying I wanted to get an email each time someone posted in my thread. This way it's easy to "forget" about your thread. It should be automatic that you get some message when you have posts in your thread, daily or whatever.

Just to reiterate - I am not having a dig at people for asking questions. I think thats fine and I often get involved in trying to help out others. Its more the ones who are jumping into teaching others 'how to make money online' when they don't have much of a clue themselves on the subject at hand.

It would be like starting a site called 'How to become an elite mixed martial arts cage fighter' when in reality you're a fried chicken eating pepsi guzzler, out of shape, sit on my butt all day tech guy whose only form of experience is playing tekken on playstation 2.

Dude, we've all been there. Sometimes you "don't know what you don't know." You have to start somewhere. Either give the poor newbees a break or make an FAQ product and sell it to them...

    ...hey, now there's a WSO idea :-)
