how do you manage multiple sites?

as above.. tried searching in the forum but nothing quite close to the answer i'm looking for..

i don't mean managing as in outsourcing seo work, articles, etc..

but instead, once you reach the point of 5+ sites, even up to 100, how do you manage the logins, passwords, renewals, database passwords, email addresses, twitter, facebook, email marketing, etc..?

on a piece of paper?

in your password manager in your browser?

ideas and thoughts please. i'm thinking to find the most efficient way of sorting my sites..

thank you!

  • You can start with ManageWP.
  • Hi,

    In regards to passwords, one suggestion would be to make some "secret formula" that only you know.

    So if your general password is: bobcarlsjr
    You could take the 2nd letter of the domain, and last letter, and add it to the password, like:
    (bo + #1 + bcar + #2 + lsjr)

    website.com = boebcarelsjr
    fastmoney.com = bofbcarylsjr

    That way, you can have 100 paswords for your websites, without needing to write/record the password somewhere.

    If each site isn't of huge value to you, you could simply take the chance of storing that data in a .txt somewhere on your computer.
    Preferably with an odd name only you will be able to identify.

    For emails, Thunderbird works great for me.
    I manage 10+ emails daily using Thunderbird.
  • I use my back link template i created for this which allows me to save all my sites, link building strategy, hosting account and many more.
  • I use Roboform and it works very well for me.

  • Excel Spreadsheet.

    Keep it on an encrypted drive (truecrypt etc).
