    Hi there,

Twitter is good for keeping in contact with people and if you can build a list of targeted followers then you can promote your website.

I use Twitter as part of an integrated marketing strategy together with RSS feeds and Facebook and find it to be quite effective.

If you can find targeted people and build a good relationship with them through your Tweets then you should do ok.

    All the best

    Jason

Twitter is a quite good traffic source in some niches, in others I think it is a waste of time to try to promote.

Twitter is also a nice way to build a list, you can send your Twitter traffic to your squeeze page, offer to them something for free and build a list that way. Twitter traffic is not in the buying mode, they are not really interested in buying anything (in most cases), so sending them to a free CPA offer or a squeeze page is better.

Iriss, you really shared a good amount of data here. Judging by what you posted here, Twitter has really helped you a lot, and it's kinda surprising that it even gave you AdSense clicks.

When people talk about Twitter, I look at it as how it was originally used: an online SMS-like service. I'm limited to 140 characters, I have the chance to talk to people, and I can create a list of contacts.

Thank you Iriss for providing such an informative post. Some of the tips that you mention such as following people in the same niche as you so that they will follow you back works tremendously well for me. Other tips like being patient and posting tweets that are unrelated to your biz 75% of the time are very helpful and I will implement it in my Twitter campaign.

Twitter is a great tool if you want search engines to index your site and backlinks quickly.

If you want to use it as a marketing tool, you need to find people who are interested in your niche, share valuable information to your followers, and share your links only occasionally. The more information you give people to relate to, the more followers you will have. You could tell them that more details can be found on your site, but don't do hard selling.

    All the best!

By posting links to their own useful content and other people's. Related videos, infographics etc. are all useful and will attract more followers in the long term. People will be looking out for your tweets if you're useful, rather than just tolerating/ignoring them.

In ANY social network we don't want to be bombarded with sales messages. We want to have social interaction. Think about it. YOU are part of it too.

Yeah you can get traffic from Twitter. People will follow you as soon as you join twitter. If your profile suggests that you're an internet marketer, but you have posted no tweets as of yet... people will still follow you... with 0 tweets! You can't live off this though. You should sync your EzineArticles account (if you have one) with Twitter to have each of your articles sent to Twitter as a tweet for your followers.

It depends on the type of niche, but you can start a twitter account and put your website URL in the bio at the top.

Next begin tweeting every time you make a useful post and link to that post on your site.

Make sure to include other social media buttons on your site as well.

Now begin following people in your niche based on targeted keywords. If people don't follow back within a day or two, unfollow them so you have room to follow more again without going over the limit.

I use tweetadder to automate the follow/unfollow part, but there are other free solutions out there.

Your goal is to get people to your site so they can learn more about you from your content and then hopefully opt in to your email list.

LOL John.. there are much faster ways to gain real followers. Tweet Attacks has a free version, if you just want to use it for following/unfollowing.

Just use it to follow the users that follow one of your competitors, OR you can follow from a search result (your keyword/niche)

You can also use advanced geotargeting, if you need followers that live within a certain distance of a location. This comes in handy when promoting CPA offers since most networks have restrictions based on the visitor's country.

Twitter is an awesome tool, but it must be used correctly. You want to get to know people. Attend forums, reward those who retweet you or comment on your tweets as quickly as possible.

But, Twitter can be frustrating. There are tons of spammers. I have just started Google+ and I have twice as much interaction with my 180 followers as I do with my 10,000 Twitter followers.

Best advice; interact with people. Invite them to facebook, Linked In, Google +...and build a relationship there. Twitter is for meeting people...it is tough to build relationships there.

MarissaTAVision: I am curious what people most often post in their tweets..how can a company write tweets that are relevant but not dry?
The important thing is to post interesting messages that engage people so they will read your messages and look forward to them. For instance, don't just post famous quotes - comment on what the author has said.

This also increases the impact that your account has - people are more likely to re-tweet your messages and this increases your effective reach.

However, keep links to a minimum. Promotional links are best kept to less than 10%. Readers will then tolerate promotions but even then response is poor.

Twitter is good for branding - getting your name recognized - when you are producing your own products or services, and building your reputation. Selling is better done by enticing followers onto an email list where you are able to build a relationship and pre-sell products.

Twitter followers are also useful for market research as you can gauge what sort of information they respond to and then using that information when designing products, sales pages and emails.

If you are preparing e-books, it is also a good way to get some reviewers of your work prior to publication.

Twitter is excellent if you can get the right kind of followers to follow you... incidentally the easiest followers to get are those who want to grow their followers, so if you have a product or ebook that helps people grow their followers, with the right Tweets, it's not that difficult to make some money... TweetAttacks can help here...

If you want to KILL IT with Twitter this is how it is done:

Fact: Most of the the people on twitter are blundering idiots and the conversion ratio on these knuckleheads is low.

You DO NOT use them to go to your site to buy something.

Here is exactly what you do and I have TENS of thousands of top 10 rankings for keyword phrases in my niches because I do this:

Get all of your keyword phrases in urls off of your domain (blahblah.com/keywordphrase1.htm, blahblah.com/kwphrase2.htm etc)

You then get software like TA and BLAST twitter people to those links. This skyrockets those links to the top of the SERPS.

    Works every time

Twitter is a very good marketing media which is ideal to getting your brand noticed, whether this is a website, blog or facebook page.

There are also some great software available that will help you get the most out of twitter such as tweetattack and social oomph just to name 2.

As an example I have increased my twitter following by nearly 7000 followers in just a few weeks which has increased traffic to my blog and increased the number of my opt-ins.

So it is definately worth the time and effort!

^ Kind of.. but the "blasting" part needs to be done in a realistic sort of way.

For example, its MUCH more realistic that thousands of people are RE-tweeting a message and link to their followers because they like it, than it is for thousands of people to be tweeting the exact same thing.

Spinning the tweets & URL's will definitely help if you're doing the latter, but retweets seem to hold more authority in SERPs. Its like the more "users" who retweet a link to their followers, the better search engines "think" it is, so they give them a higher ranking.

The people who bash Twitter and go around saying it doesnt work just gave up too soon.. Nothing is instantaneous. Sure, I bet Bill Gates could throw together a new computer in under 20 minutes, but think about how long it took him to get there.

Nothing worth having comes easy. Trust me on that.. lol

lol yea, theres a ton of ways to get traffic on there. But I was talking about the SEO aspect of the site.

Also, I'm guessing you mean you just put your link as the profile's home page and then follow targeted users, right?

If so, that works too.. lol like I said there are a ton of ways to do it. Only problem I have with that method is that the accounts can easily be linked to each other, since they have that same home page. Its just not realistic.

But anyway as far as SEO on Twitter, the more users re-tweeting a link the better.

Think about it like this - You have 11 accounts, 10 of them have 5,000 TARGETED followers for your niche and the last one is your main account. You can tweet your link from the main account, then re-tweet that message and link with the remaining 10 accounts - INSTANTLY promoting your site to 50,000 TARGETED people. And keep in mind, you CAN use advanced geo-targeting, among other features, on Twitter to build those followers.

And it looks a hell of a lot more realistic to the mods.

No first thing you have to do is make sure you collect followers in your specific niche. Most will just collect. You have to be very specific and the followers you have. I have over a 20 percent conversion rate with twitter on links clicked. I consider that exceptional.

Twitter is only as useful as the way it is used. There are generally two schools of thought when it comes to twitter. Some people are using it for SEO related purposes, whereas others are using it for direct affiliate marketing purposes.

I would say both are equally effective, just so long as one focuses on posting great content on Twitter so that the followers one has are genuine and interested in whatever niche your account is based on.

Twitter is a great marketing tool, and if one uses it properly, it can increase his or her income exponentially.

I will give you a great example and a name I advertised just to see what it would briing in.

I started this name about 2 weeks ago and worked it about a week with tweeternaire
    just100aday
I have over a thousand followers
I searched for exactly what I wanted. "work at home" "make money online" ect.
Takes me about 15 minutes to work a day with my software. I have a 16 percent click rate on this one name.

When advertising it I was offered 225 just the way it sits.

Now I didnt at first shield out no avatar and tweeters with less than 100 followers, which I am now doing.

You can make money from twitter in many different ways. I would also be willing to put tweeternaire up against any of the other programs.

I will tell you just one feature.
If I want to check tweets on twitter.
I can type "make money at home" or whatever I want, it will give me back what has been tweeted, then I can market to these specific tweets.

A better example is if I'm selling ipads and someone tweets I want an ipad I can send them an offer.

I will back twitter any day and tweeternaire too.

I have names with 60,000 members I have built and I continue to build them. I have not a single one I have used tweeternaire for that got banned because I use it responsibly.

I also turn to Twitter when I promote my website. What I do is I signed up for Google News. Whenever I receive updates on trending topics relative to my business, I link it to my Twitter since my followers are in the same industry as I am anyway. In that way, they are updated as well. Then I can squeeze in a word about my business and direct them to my professional website.

Twitter is good to get the word out and let the people know what you are doing, but for generating leads and sales is a waste of time in my opinion. I never met anybody who made a lot of money with twitter. Personally I never made a dime. I think you should put more efforts into list building, because email marketing is a 100 time more successful model than any social media.

Exactly! I can't say it's made me tons of money, but, I know it's definitely built a bit more branding presence for both of my sites, and I've sold some instrumentals to a few of my followers as a result of my tweeting, and also by adding friends with this little trick I thought of and do with some of my followers after they follow me.

It can be a very powerful tool, but I think it's more powerful when you do more interacting, versus some of these tweeters that have tons of news articles, affiliate links, and other weird tweets going on with their timeline.
