Google offering $20,000 if you can hack Chrome

There's an annual hacking contest that's held here at CanSecWest, a digital security conference.

The scaled-down contest, which will take place in March at the CanSecWest Conference in Vancouver, will completely focus on the browser and give hackers an opportunity to earn points over three days for performing successful attacks using a zero-day vulnerability. HP TippingPoint is rewarding $105,000 in cash, divided between first, second and third place winners. In addition, Google is participating for the second year in a row, offering $10,000 and $20,000 vulnerability payouts to researchers who can successfully demonstrate an exploit using flaws in the Chrome browser.

Yea this is pretty cool ha ha. I also wish I knew how to hack. I know how to program pretty well, but that's totally different to hacking

If you know how to program then its easier for you to hack.. alot of the hackers use scripts so they are not really hackers..they are script kiddies..the real hackers are programmers because they understand the code and can manipulate it ..so u have a good potential in becoming a hacker if u want to learn it..

I know a few pro hackers back when I used to sell money making methods on [deleted]

I wonder if any of them can take on the challenge. If anonymous gets in, they win though. They hack main .gov websites, I'm sure they can figure out how to find an exploit in Google Chrome.

Anonymous will never come to such a contest saying hey Google, we're here, we won, give us le money and now arrest us cause we hacked so many sites in the last few days.

It's a good contest though - interesting way to build your brand and also find vulnerabilities of your software. Maybe it works as a job interview as well..

Even if Anonymous did enter, I doubt they would introduce themselves as a member. The more realistic approach would be "I'm just someone who loves computers & I'm always up for a challenge"

Either way, I wish I could hack.. lol I'd enter.

    Oh oh.....

they are putting up that challenge.

Never and I mean never underestimate the brillance of these evil people out there. They will not want to do this for fame, but for the EGO and to tell others what they did.

My guess is a group of elites will crack this, it is not a matter of if, but when. Just wait and see. Chrome is not that good.

My guess is they are going to do this, to find the faults and fix them. They do this from time to time.
