List building dilemma

When I started selling my first info product months ago, I didn't set up a lead capture system. I have since switched to 1shoppingcart so I can use their autoresponder system; but I have about 500 email address in my Yahoo email folder of people who bought my ebook, and I would like to steer them to a lead capture system.

Here's my dilemma: I can send one email and BCC everyone...but I can't get a link in my Yahoo emails to go live. So they would have to cut and paste it follow the link. I put in the link, it's not clickable. Anyone know a way to fix that?

    Hi, Dana,
    Are you including http:// in the links? Without that, links don't work in Yahoo!

    I use BCC when sending lots of emails and never have a problem with links not working.

    I emailed my mac acct from a test yahoo account with 3 versions of a URL

    1) Test URL <--- was clickable when received.

    2) testurl.com <--- was not clickable when received.

    3) Test URL <--- was clickable when received.

    You should be able to make a live link an a yahoo email, using trafficwave's advice above.

    However, I would NOT BCC them...

    Your list is your most valuable asset, so it's worth taking the time to maximize your chances of getting those customers to opt-into your new list.

    BCC will lower the chance that it will be delivered to them, as it is a technique used by spammers.

    You could probably crank out 500 replies in a couple hours. Or you might consider creating a quick macro to do it.

    Another option would be to drop the list directly into your autoresponder. I'm not sure how 1SC does it, but with Aweber they will automatically send a confirmation email to each email address you import.

    For maximum impact, you may want to do both (email them directly notifying them of the change, and drop them into the A/R).

    Hey guys, I appreciate it. I know, I've really learned my lesson - that list is a very valuable asset and I have created a huge amount of work for myself by not giving people a chance to opt in when I first set it up. Eric, you're probably right, I should just bite the bullet and sit there and cut and paste for a few hours.

    The downside with Aweber - from what I understand you lose a huge number of people if you import your list. I think I would have a better conversion rate if I just offer them some incentive to get on my list, like a free report.

    opt-in to your AW account. Don't call it an interview
    though call it "Twitter Breakthrough - How To Suck
    Money Off Twitter Like A Vacuum Cleaner On Steroids!"
    or something.

    Just kidding about the steroidal vac thing... very cheesy -
    but you get my point I hope.
