Amazon Kindle VS. ClickBank

I do not have a lot of experience with either. However, it seems it costs money to put something on Clickbank but not on Kindle. I think that makes Amazon look good and Clickbank not as good. IMO.

Hi Christiani! Well, you can start with Kindle even if you do not have a website - Amazon is taking care of the traffic. All you need there is good marketing and product. More importantly, it's a trusted platform.

For Clickbank you may need a website, and generally if there's no traffic you won't progress with it.

Kindle is the gold standard now and makes it easier for people to read your books. They can read on their PC or Mac with the Kindle App, their Kindle device, their iPhone or iOS device, Android device, etc.

I've made a lot of money through ClickBank - they are the best company on the entire internet to deal with, if you ask me.

However, it's easier to put an Ebook on Kindle than ClickBank - you don't need a site or the $50 fee to sign up. And, really... why not do both?

Amazon has millions of dollars to share with authors who allow their books to be "lent out" to Prime members. In order to share in this whopping pot, (which can often be a bigger earner than book sales) you have to commit to selling via the Kindle store exclusively.

My eBook has sold significantly more copies through Clickbank than with Kindle. I setup a Clickbank account just for their merchant processing, and later learned that the site has affiliates in place to sell products for you!

I actually don't direct any traffic to my Kindle version which probably explains less sales, but on the other hand all eBook formats don't work well with Kindle. For instance, my eBook is created for PC techs and people with PCs, so they'd have to request the non-Kindle version after getting the Kindle version anyways.

I like the idea of quarterly royalties paid by Kindle but I want my money upfront, hence my bias for Clickbank!

I guess selling for the kindle platform you have little to no control over your books visibility. Your biggest strength lies in appropriate niche research and selection (along with quality content of course!).
You can do external promotion but within the site your visibility to search results and therefore customers really relies on their algorithms unless customers are sorting by author, price, charts etc.

ClickBank & Kindle are as different as the sun and the moon. With ClickBank you have top vendors making millions every years and I'm not so sure that is happening with any Kindle e-publishers.

With ClickBank you're eBook will have to go for $27, have a content rich website with a kick-butt salespage, a one time offer and require some good pre-selling to close the deal.

With Kindle - you have people who implicitly trust the Amazon marketplace and will buy on impulse and reviews (most of which appear to be rigged via Fiverr).

Anyway, you need to figure out what you're really after before you choose between Kindle or ClickBank. They are platforms designed to solve fundamentally different problems.

I guess this is what I am thinking through now. I love the idea of Amazon and selling books on there for residual income. Breaking away from Google sounds sweet.

Yet at the same time, when you set up a website page to promote a product, you really only have to do it once. If you picked the right keywords, after the initial ranking, backlinking would be in maintenance mode. And you can surely make a lot more that a couple bucks a pop per sale.

And yeah, Google changes all the time but Amazon could change and throw out all public domain or all short ebooks etc. in the future.

And it is harder to write a book that adds genuine value to sell, than a short article on a website to sell something.

At the same time the whole idea of Kindle Publishing and selling those titles over and over is very alluring.

I make my living from advertising to small groups of people, building lists, article sydication to clickbank products of mine.

Targeted traffic is the key. To do this you just have to go to your most likely prospects and put your messages and raging good content infront of them, and send them to your list, and sales funnel. This has been working for years.

I have mastered that....however, there are people smashing it and killing it with kindle.

Look into Ty Cohen, I met him a year ago, and he makes over 30k a month on kindle. It is probably more like 50k a month now. But he has a course showing you everything, for about 1k. It is expensive, but if you are serious about it, then Take a look.

Thanks for all the great info!

I think that this year both platforms are on fire; Clickbank and Kindle, and there is money to be made with products that people really want.

And above all there are still new markets emerging. iBooks is coming out with their new platform for more interactive books which I'm sure some of you will capitalize on.

Afterall it seems that someone can be extremely successful on any platform as long as an extremely bright and butt kicking product comes out. I might just try my hand in more than one platform. ; )
