Could someone be using your photos to scam people? Find out for free

Not many people know about this so I figured I'd post. To be honest, I just learned it myself.

If you go to Google Images you will see a camera icon at the end of the search bar.

Click that camera icon, and you can now either upload a photo, or provide the URL to a photo and see where its being used.

There was a story on NBC about this - Someone was using a guy's photo on a dating website & was scamming people out of thousands. They found out using this.

This is excellent man! I guess I should use this technique to find out who's using my pictures to possibly "scam" or "mislead" people.

Do you know how this is different or better than Tiny Eye?

    Thanks for posting.

    Thanks for the tip!

This could be monumental in stopping internet scams and misuse of other peoples images to make a quick buck and potentially destroy another person's reputation. I really hope this tool is not misused by people. I was wondering when they would come up with something like this.

Well the limiting factor about the search is the images size. I just tried it and it only gave me results of my exact pic size. So in essence people could still use my picture but change the size.

What a joke. According to Google I look similar to these people:

And you think you have problems?! At least those guys are human: according to Google, I look similar to a plate of fruit-salad (limes, kiwi and green apples). I'm thinking more "color-recognition" than "photo-recognition", here? :p

Yeah, TinEye's been around a while, which is what I've used on occasions. Didn't know about Google's service or how new it is, but been using TinEye since last year sometime.

TinEye's not that effective, Google Image Search is much faster. Wrote an article about finding your stolen photos last year on my site as well, helped a friend track down a photo thief.

This method has been around for some time now.

I use this method to check "clickbank earnings proof" screenshots.

    LOL Mike

@ramone, yeah I think this has been around for a really long time, but not many people noticed that little camera icon.. or if they did, they didnt bother to click it.

    I know I didnt.

You could also use it to search for images that you own the copyrights to, not just yourself. As for the size thing, they will probably come up with a solution for that eventually. It is google after all. lol
