An excellent one. But we also have to understand why people don't take action and what needs to be done to force them to take action.

Some people like to be held accountable. I think the key to get yourself to take action is by changing your perception.

If you change the way you perceive about a thing (your entire thought process - not what you think about a thing), you instantly change your behavior.

You'll come across certain negative constricting emotions when you're trying to get out of that comfort zone. I recommend using Emotional Freedom therapy to address those blocks and move forward.

Man I love this quote. It really is so true. People just give up way too early. The guys who are doing this for a living have been members here since 2002, 2003 etc. That shows you that they have hung in here and have kept going!

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. I've been reading the WF through my news reader for a VERY long time and "take action" is easily the most often given single piece of advice that I see.

It's said a lot, it just isn't done enough. Clicking the New Posts link is not taking action lol.

I do think that people arrive on this forum and similar still clutching to the idea that there is some kind of mystical button that can be pushed to spit out money...

The internet is just like any other job...you need to work at it, modify if it doesn't work and keep on going.

You present some excellent advice for newcomers to the industry. I think that part of the disillusionment that many "newbies" experience in the forum, especially after purchasing a WSO, comes not from the fact that some work or effort is required; it is more that they fail to realize that they may need apply their own "spin" on the idea that is being taught. Some form of creativity is involved, and that can't be covered in a step-by-step blueprint.

'And yes, you have to take the beginning action of unzipping the files or loading up the PDF file--whatever is necessary to get the information from your hard drive into your head!

I think part of the reason people don't take action is fear of failure, which is unfortunate.

A big problem is hopping on a trending bandwagon hoping to get rich, getting half way through the process, then hopping on the next.

The amazing thing about this forum is the amount of valuable information on business ideas. People need to stick with one idea and make a success out of it before moving on or expanding.

Personally, I would prefer only my clients and me taking action. Everybody else, please do nothing.

I think many people start to take action and don't see the results they want fast enough. They then get "Shiny New Object Syndrome" and move to something else. Then repeat the process.

Seriously. The guy had so many people working around the clock and doing the work for him. Most of us pictrue ol' TAE sitting around in a workshop (like the back of his garage or something) and tinkering with this and that, but that's not the case at all. He had an entire complex devoted to churning out inventions, and it was staffed by many people.

He was noted for being an almost harsh taskmaster and doing things that bordered on the unethical (to put it charitably).

However, he was also a manager who got stuff done. He definitely took action, but even more importantly, IMHO, he didn't take no for an answer. He kept trying and trying, AND paid attention to what others would call "failures". Edison, and members of his team, were experts at analyzing what went wrong and would keep going until they got things right.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Edison, but rather pointing out that he wasn't perfect. That's actually a good thing, because none of us are perfect either, but that's no excuse for not taking action.

Great post, and all great points. The power of "doing" is probably the most underestimated power that one has. By doing work you are in action, and action creates momentum. Once you have enough momentum, it's just too hard for you to stop at how far you come with your actions. It is against the law of nature, that your work will not pay off. It all comes down to a simple thing, work hard and get paid.

I have been browsing this forum every time I get the chance, as never had any chance to post since I have a day job, here in Southern California, working for a software company in managerial sales position.

This is the first thread that I read today and it instantly touched with the new ventures I am currently embarking on. Warrior Forum looks like a great place to gain knowledge, resources, and contacts. I hope I am able to get as much information as I can from this great database of internet marketing information.

Thomas Edison was so awesome. Though think what more he might have accomplished had he recognized talent under his nose. If he hadn't been so blind he would have paid Nicola Tesla something near what he was worth and retained him as an employee.

I think I was pretty clear in the OP that I was differentiating between too much thinking and not enough doing. Of course you want to take action on specific things. I was referring to it in relation to the time spent in "navel gazing" mode.

And I also think it's OK to take action on the wrong thing, as long as you learn from that experience and alter your future efforts. That's also a reason why Edison is a particularly appropriate example.

Abraham Lincoln, too. He failed multiple times before becoming President.

In fact, history is replete with this common trend. Most successful people we know by name didn't magically get there. They had to slog and fight and ignore those little negative voices we all know, I'm sure.
