Newbies gotta start somewhere.. I see a pattern here, what are your 2 cents on this??

A newbie just asked for some help on here regarding how to get started with online marketing, he wanted to know if there was a specific route he should follow and was willing to work hard for success..

A Warrior on here with lots of posts replied with "You might as well look for a Unicorn"

I don't get it, i see answers like this on here constantly and i thought that this forum was a helping community not one to step on someone when they are asking for help..

My take on this is if i can help i answer and if not i keep my mouth shut, not to say i might not be funny with an answer but definitely would never answer a post by killing someones dream..

What are your opinions either way?

Thanks

I'm new to WF, but, not to forums, in general. Depending on what the theme of the forum is & how active it is, the response to newbies, sometimes is, this inquiry has been made a million times before. Read the FAQ & any relevant discussions & then, if you still have questions, get back to us. Though, we'd prefer if you didn't, as, those constant queries, over & over, are just so darned annoying :p

I'm of the opinion, everyone learns in a different manner. Some would rather ask, than search out the information themselves. Of course, at some point, they will need to stand on their own more, if, they're going to have any success.

I hear you Gypsy this make sense.. I jsut don't get or understand the insults that i see on so many posts on here sayng things like "Stop dreaming, there's no way you can do that you just started etc.."

These kind of little minded people need to be shut down no matter how experienced or long they've been in internet marketing.. They're not helping anybody with these kinds of replys.

The OP is referencing this thread which should probably be read before anybody relies upon the "information" (i.e., misquote(s)) that he has written in this thread:

I don't really think that it's an insult per se... It's more of a nonsensical answer to a nonsense question.

People who ask that question usually are:

      1. Looking or an easy way to make money (there is no easy way, especially in IM).
      2. Looking for someone to build a strategy for them and do all of the hard work to make it happen.
      3. Don't have a business mindset (IM is a business).
      4. Too lazy to learn and do.
At least it sounds like the person is willing to work at it, which is good. The problem is that there is no single route to take just like in the offline world. Think about it in the offline world, if someone asked "I'm thinking of starting a business. What's a single route I could take in order to start making money on my own?" what would you say to them? There are THOUSANDS of ways to make money offline.

The better way to go about getting an IM question answered is to do research and see how others are making money online, find a few avenues that look fun and may work, and then ask which avenue would be best for a newbie.

For example... maybe pair down to:

      1. Product creation
      2. micro-niche site building
      3. Linkedin marketing (PPC and free).
There are ways to make money in each of those. Now, what sounds like the smarter and more actionable question, the one from the person your cited, or....

"Hey guys, I have been looking at LinkedIn PPC as a way to make money. Has anybody seen success with it? My strategy would be to build landing pages for real estate agents and drive traffic with CPM/PPC. Think that would work?"

The rude-ish type remarks shouldn't be taken personally. Ask better questions and you get better answers.

Although facetious, I think it is a marvelous idea to look for a unicorn. There is some historical evidence for them. If you can't find a unicorn then one should create their own personal unicorn.

    This was the actual quote:

You'll find a unicorn before you find this. What you're looking for (THE magic button, the faucet, the plan, the guarantee) just doesn't exist.
I happen to agree with this comment and didn't find it harsh, or rude at all.

Just to play the devil's advocate here, a Rhinoceros is technically at least, a Unicorn of sorts!

Mind you, you may need more help turning it loose than you would catching it but ...
