how do you brand yourself?

What I mean is, if you're starting a blog/social media profile that's all about branding you, not your business, what do you talk about?

Business?
Life?
Generalities?

I have no clue what to write about.

Talking about what interests you and what you are passionate about would be a good start.

Well what makes you special? Don't post and talk about things just because you think it will "brand" you. Write about things that genuinely interest you and give advice, opinions etc. This is sometimes harder than it sounds, but don't be afraid to put yourself out there. That's what people really want

I know you were looking for a different type of response, but when I first read your post it reminded me of this article by the GeekSquad founder where he said, in the early days, he used to put a print of the GeekSquad logo on the bottom of his shoes so that wherever he previously walked, people would see his company.

How did Perry Marshall become Mr. Adwords? By writing about the many facets of Adwords.

How did Michel Fortin become the "Copy Doctor"? By writing about the many intricacies of writing sales copy.

Yes... you throw some personal stuff in the mix. But in the main, you attract readers by consitently providing solid content on your subject of expertise.
