This Is The Easiest Way To Back Up Your Wordpress Site For Free

Was looking at a simple way of backing up my wordpress sites and I found an in built function that is perfect.

Simply go to your WP dashboard and under 'Tools' you will have the option to 'Export' your site. This simply makes a copy of your site that you can store offline, if your site is wiped out by hackers, just re-upload this file with the 'Import' function and voila your site is back.

This is incredibly simple, the only downside is that the back up copy does not update itself, you will need to regularly use the 'Export' function if you want to keep an up to date back up.

But this is a really quick and easy solution for anyone who doesn't want to find some good back up software or plugin.

You can use wp backup plugin which will email you backup copy to whatever frequency you set, so you could get a back up copy every day automatically, there is also send to dropbox plugin whic will send it to your dropbox automatically.
    Hope it helps

This is much better solution. I use WP-DBManager plugin and it sends the database backups to my gmail account. So it's everywhere I go. Still backup all the files manually once a month, though. One never knows what could happen.

I thought the export just exported the data? To recreate your blog, you would still have to set up wordpress, install the theme, plugins, etc.. and then restore the backup - Am I correct??

The WP install, themes and plugin can easily re-done within 30 minutes. But this back up saves all your content, which is the most important thing for me.

Using export will only back up the text content from the database, you would still lose all your images or any other content which is not text.

That would only import the posts. That would not restore the entire database and the site files.

Here's instructions on a simple, free, complete backup that is fast to restore both database and site files
