How to use Gimp to change words on a logo?

I have a logo.png file. I just need the text changed. I don't have Photoshop, but I do have Gimp. (Truthfully, trying to use Gimp makes me want to hurt myself or others LOL).

I was going to hire someone on Odesk, but the minimum is $5 and I just cannot see paying $5 for something that will take all of 30 seconds to do.

Any ideas on how to load it up on Gimp and just change it?

Its impossible to "quickly and easily" change lettering on a logo with Gimp because Gimp automatically flattens any text layers on a psd.

In your case, you have a .png image, which is already a flattened image.

Basically what you need is the psd source file or someone who can erase the text on the .png file well enough, so that it looks as though it was not there. Then type onto the .png image some new text.

$5.00 is definately not unreasonable for something like this, it's not a 30 second job. Unless it's a psd file... either way, $5.00 would not be unreasonable....

Find someone talented with Photoshop to do something like this, because it would be the best tool to use to correct something like this.....

Actually, I looked and it is psd. There are 2 files - a png and psd. The psd needs changing and then saved as png. I watched someone do the same thing on screen in a couple of seconds, but she had Photoshop and I don't.
