City or Country name in domain?

I was wondering if you are allowed to have a city, town or country name in your domain. I did a Google search but found nothing.

Thanks

I ranked #1 for my towns' newspaper's main keyword (not the trademark name). It was the oldest website in the area so I was only attacking it to see if I could ...

Once I ranked and stayed at number 1 .. I gave the site to the newspaper.

I had no desire to run a newspaper site. I didn't charge the newspaper anything for the site or domain name. I can now walk in to the news office 10 minutes before deadline and get a free classified in the next edition.

Yes, you can. Before you buy domain names, you might want to check the search volume on those geographical keyword areas. Depending on the area, you could have a lot or nothing, so do your research first.

Yes! Ahh this is my specialty, geo domains. Some of the biggest domainers have geo domains.

Yes, you're allowed to put your city or country's name in your domain. But if you want quick cash by flipping geo-targeted domains, I suggest that you should go for the city name and followed by a business-type name.
