I just finished my own production music site and while doing research for mine found a ton of great sites both big and small, many not mentioned here already. These are some great sites with truly superb music. Many of them offer some free music or are very inexpensive.

If you want to include the music tracks that the industry uses for tv then consider audio networks.

You will have to pay for a licence however the music you get is royalty free and is composed by many of the worlds best artists and composers.

I have purchase a lot of royalty free music over the years and even paid companies to produce unique tracks for me. Digital Juice - The Best Products and Prices for Video & Graphics Professionals has a product line called "stack traxx" which has some great tracks that are layered which you can unstack. They also run discounts all the time. I have a large collection of stack traxx.

Try 20dollarbeats.com There's a free section. Royalty-free. The music is pretty good too. Also, there's an open source music site on the internet. The name escapes me but you can easily find it on google.

I've gone through many of the links posted on this thread, and IMO none of the compare to JewelBeat for:

Quality
Price
Selection
License

JewelBeat has a number of free roaylty-free songs, music and sound effects, just need attribution. They also sell music for 99 cents a track and collections for $19.95.

The one problem with JewelBeat is each time I visit, I start listening to their music for long periods of time.

I'm not a lawyer, so do your own interpreting, but I like the JewelBeat license the best of any royalty-free music source I've found:

Another site not posted with good quality and selection is Audio Jungle. They generally have a bigger selection than JewelBeat, but are more expensive with each track usually costing between $6 and $14. Not only more expensive than JewelBeat, I don't like their license as much. But if you are looking for that "perfect" sound, Audio Jungle is worth a look.
