Marketing for Graphic Designers

Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any graphic designer warriors that have succes with marketing their services online on forums like this one, but also with other traffic. (Banner/logo/webdesign)

Me and my parter have been designing for a very long time now(5+years) but mostly for ourselfs and for friends. I just recentlly thought about using our skill and sell our services to others. We (and essecially my partner) is of very high quality when it comes to creating flyers and logo's.

I've thought of fiverr, but I have had a bad experience with fiverr as an seller(other non-design service) and I think that the work we do is worth more then $4.

Any tips/case studies/experiences?

Thanks in advance,

Serge

    Hi Serge,

There are tons of designers in WF, and YES- you can make bank (if you are good and awesome service record) in WF.

I suggest you start by listing in the Warrior for Hire section, and also at WSO. Thats the first 2 places i look when I am finding for designers.

Whats the latest movie you watched? Anything good?

Good tip. But is it worth my $20? Will ik get enough sales? I'm mean, I'm sure I will earn my money back but I'm hoping to get at least 15 sales a month.

        THREE GOLDEN RULE:

        #1:
Here's a thing- you can always try and see whether it works for you. Nobody here is going to do that for you and come report back the outcome for you.

        #2:
Never ever EXPECT sales to simply drop in because you invested a $20 over it. Nope, don't work that way. Keep you service standards high, keep your customers happy, and do a great job, all the time. That's how you build reputation, trust and ultimately referral business in WF

        #3:
Don't just simply depend on WF alone. There is a lot of forums out there, and there are lots of sites out there, and you can even bring your service for offline prospects.

Check them out as well. Never ever put something as critical as business leads to come from one source only. Your business will die if the source closes. So, always source for new places, new areas of growth, and continue to have great work ethics (most important when you are selling a service)

I agree with Suthan in that you will need to try and see what works. I know some warriors make regular income from the forum so you'll just have to dip your toe in the water and feel for what will work best. Look at the other offers and see why they are working then make your own offers just as or even more appealing - One way to get attention is to showcase your past work. If it's good, then you should attract attention. If you can deliver on time and as promised then you build a following and customers.

At that point your $20 (and a few extras here and there) will have done far more than you expected. But, you gotta try and if you fail, dust yourself off and try again or go and try something else, at least then you'll know for sure and not keep wondering if it was worth it.

You should also market yourself to offline companies. They need web graphics too and rarely find graphic designers as good as the ones on forums like this--depending of course on exactly what they are looking for.

          Best of luck,

          Kunle

There are a few good places you can offer your services.

warriors for hire, elance, ebay, clickbank, paydotcom

If your quality & price is really good, it'll attract affiliates to help promote your product through clickbank / paydotcom

    Hope it helps :-)

You should build up your portfolio. Take any websites that you have and use them as case studies. Then create a site for yourself, and market it on all the freelance sites, Warriors for hire, PPC, and the same way you would market anything. Focus lots on the free methods of marketing tho, and capture email addresses to sell to your list your services. Have a place on your website where they can see previous sites that you've created. If you can... see if you can come up with something like a money back guarantee - and make it one of the focal points of your services.
