Is anyone making money solely from affiliate marketing?

As suggested in the title.

I am wondering if anyone on here is making good money from basic affiliate marketing?

This kind of process:
1 - picking a niche/product ( physical product not digital )
2 - finding 'buying' keywords with a good search volume and a top 10 results that you could compete for via SEO
3 - buying a domain and setting up a wordpress site
4 - writing a 800-1000 word review for your choosen product/keyword
5 - having an affiliate link on your page, and a big call to action at the bottom
6 - working on your SEO, backlinking etc...
7 - getting a top 3 position and making good sales

I'd love to hear what you think because this is the business model I am currently persuing.

Thanks,
Sean

It's always good to have a bit of diversification, but having said that, the business model you listed above is pretty solid, and will work.

just don't close your mind to other opportunities ...and always add something to collect email addresses.... thats where the money will be for you eventually

Yes ... very close to 100% of my income is from basic affiliate marketing.

No - not in my case. The model you describe is for using SEO as the primary traffic generator. I'm an article marketer, myself, so I don't do that. There are a few things on your list of 7 items which I don't do at all (and still some I do!). But what I do is still "basic affiliate marketing".

You haven't mentioned list building, Sean.

You're going to need to have opt-ins and build lists, to make a living from affiliate marketing. However you're generating the traffic. They're not really "optional" from the marketer's perspective.

      Thanks guys!!

Really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge with me.

      M. Thompson - Just really briefly what other business models would you advise me keep an eye on?

Perhaps I could look into them while persuing the one I'm on

Alexa - When you say your an article marketer, does that mean you get all of your traffic from writing articles, with a link back to your site/offer, and sending them out to a whole heap of different places?

      Thanks again guys,
      Sean

Yes, mostly. In round numbers I get 80% of my traffic that way. The other 20% I do get from search engines, simply because some of the "heap of different places" I send them to are websites in my niches, and when they publish them there, the backlink I get out of it is therefore a relevant one, which is worth a lot (to put it mildly) in linkjuice terms. It's worth more than thousands of article directory backlinks, anyway, by common consensus. So I admit I do actually have some really valuable off-page SEO, too ... I'm just not doing any "backlinking" myself, per se, and that isn't even my primary traffic: it's just a "free bonus".

There's a one-post summary of what I'm doing here, if you want to see.

Yes that is almost the same exact steps i am pursuing now, make sure you consistently promote your blog content and also start building a list from your visitors, for even if they do not buy the first time around you can keep sending valuable information and get them to a long term customer, as long as your niche has got a lot of buyers

Yes, I made a full-time income for many years on just affiliate marketing - not quite as described - but similar. Now I am branching out a bit into PLR and Mobile marketing, but it definitely works. !

I'm almost going full time with just affiliate marketing.

The model you describe is sound, but as mentioned: add list building to that.

Work different niches and grow your business. Don't just concentrate on a single niche.

Yes, in my case i get most of my profit comes form such processes
The module you have is solid, you just need to peruse do your best and give it time. i had a mixture of success and failures at the start, picked the successes and polished them, with time they grew very will.
While you do that, if you have another thing going, make sure that you keep on top of it to keep your income secure
