Hi Warriors,

It's pretty easy to grab the YouTube Embed code from YouTube pages and paste it into your web page or blog to show a video.

And you can click the little Customize icon to select a size, colors, turn off related videos for the player you embed...

But, you can also do some other things that YouTube doesn't have but you have to hack the embed code.

I got tired of that so I built a little web tool that let's you simply paste in the URL of any video that allows sharing and:
  • Set it to show in High Quality (HQ)
  • Show the video in HD (if possible)
  • Turn OFF the totally annoying Search Bar
  • Ditch the visitor stealing Related Videos & Enhanced Genie Menu
  • Customize the Colors
  • Add a border
  • More features to come...like custom video skins.

Check it out at:

YouTube Embed Code Customizer - High Quality-Search Box and related videos options

It's not totally perfect...still a work in progress but it's copy / paste easy to add High Quality settings to YouTube videos (you normally have to add a special string of text in two places to get this to work).

Hope it helps you show better YouTube video quality without some of the viewer stealing distractions!

    Very nice tool Lon,

Funny thing... I was going to charge people as part of one of our upcoming services to do all these little tricks :-)

I've seen quite a few people creating these little scripts to make this stuff easier for those who do not want to manually modify the embed code.

    Pretty useful.

      Awesome tool Lon,

Actually been doing all of these things by hand, and it was a pain in the butt.

Thank you for the tool. I will definitely add this to my video product I also have.

Thanks, great little tool for sure.

I just tried it on http://copywriter.tv and I got an extra piece of
    code [<object width="340" height="280" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></object>]

But I deleted this and got rid of the extra space.

Thanks all for the great feedback!

It seems that this tool is helping some folks out but I want to make it even better.

I'm thinking of adding the ability to select a number of graphic "skins" to the selection process.

This will "wrap" your YouTube videos in some nice looking graphics...effectively creating an entirely new player "look"

Personally, I think this feature would be VERY cool but would like to know if others think it would be useful as well?

I'm currently using such a skin on my main squeeze page and have seen a 14% gain in my conversion rate....nothing else has changed so indications are that the skin is having a positive impact...curious to see if others experience the same.

    Hey Lon,

Sweet tool! I love it. Beats tweaking the code. This makes it very easy to change the video player size plus all the other goodies you got on there like adding a border, auto-play, etc. Awesome. Thanks.

Being able to add skins would be fantastic. I've used those graphic templates for videos and their a bit clunky. I would love a skin with a "Watch This Video" with a an arrow graphic to it for a squeeze page.

I was looking at the interface and wondered if you might add a redirect twist on the script, so that if I put it on a IM blog, it will send people to a particular url?

    Kind regards

Ps I've twittered it and put a link on a popular forum so I hope it helps some?
