Anyone Been Told By Affiliate They Rebated Via PDC?

Okay I have one product in particular that has an extremmmmmely low refund rate - like once in a blue moon. But today I get a message from someone who claims he's an affiliate on PDC and says this:

"Hi Mr Tiffany Dow,
I have processed rebates on five(05) of your products. Thanks."

Well first of all I thought Tiffany was pretty gender specific, but maybe not! LOL
Secondly, his name isn't showing up anywhere as an affiliate.
Thirdly, the only refunds I've ever had have come to ME and I handled the refund - why would an affiliate "rebate" whatever that means - a buyer?

Something smells fishy.

Did he ask for money or anything else? That does seem very odd.

For awhile there was a lot of "rebate" jobs going around which basically was people promoting affiliate links and then if a customer bought a product from their link making someone $50 commission - that person would turn around and offer a $25 rebate. Or something along those lines. But not sure why that person would tell you that he gave rebates and even weirder that he's not even an affiliate that you can tell.

    Very odd.

It certainly sounds fake to me. Perhaps follow up with him to see what on earth he's going on about (and see if he actually responds :-) ), but I certainly wouldn't waste any energy wondering about it.

If it does smell fishy, that's because it's a Red Herring.

What does he/she want from you? It is possible that
he uses another name on the 'Net,. so if they do ask
you to reimburse them... might be a good idea to ask
them for payment details before you tell them to get
    stuffed.

    Just my Tuppence Worth
