Multiple Streams of Revenue on One Site?

I'm a newbie with IM and was wondering if someone could post examples here of websites using multiple income streams on one site, i.e., Adsense (or alternatives), affiliates, sponsors/advertising banners plus an area for subscriptions. Or would this be too overwhelming for customers? I have an idea that I think could work with all these on one site but wondered if it is ever done.

    If your on to make money in IM and bloggin which I guess you are lol, then multiple Income Streasm is a must. Check out incomediary dot com to see this in motion, get affiliate marketing, banner ads, mailing list, even sell your own product, if done correct you can make good money.

  • yes can be done quite successfully just make sure the banners etc aren't off-putting for your visitors (well-spaced and perhaps in a standard spot - links could be thrown into text?)

  • Adsence really depends on the niche. If you are a guru type selling the fact you make a killing online .. I really wonder why you have cluttered up your site with cheap click ads.

    I am making a site which will have over 200 income streams on it within the first 30 days and none of them will ever leave my server.

  • Yup. Keep it simple. Just generate the lead and lead them back to your product page for sales. Make sure you have only 1 obvious action you want your subscriber to take. Don't overwhelm or confuse them, or put links on your site that will take them to a totally differnet website.

  • If you want to create multiple income streams, you may wish to explore portal sites some. I have found this method very effective in some niches ... not so effective in others. Whether or not it works depends a lot on what niche you are working in my experience.

  • An example would be TV show fan sites.

    You can have CPC (adsense), CPM (since traffic is high + lots of returning), various affiliate programs (watching online, iTunes, HULU, etc), DVD/Blu-Ray Sales via Amazon, fan t-shirt sales. All without overwhelming the visitors.

    You can even add forums. Add more advertising to it. Provide an option for subscription for regular members who don't want to see ads.

  • It wouldn't be too overwhelming but do some test to see what works best. Place adds for a month and track how they do. In some cases placement is key. The same with your Affiliate links, banners and etc.

    You should learn how to focus on one main income stream before moving to another

    • On my main site I offer sewing alteration services...but also offer wedding accessories, books through affiliate links, as well as marriage advice products, and newlywed finances help, and now I am building a parents page there too...also I buy bulk wedding veils and other accessories in bulk ( from china ) and resell then on my site using a paypal shopping cart...also I teach sewing in the winter...also I have a page where I offer consignment gowns ( gowns are kept here till they sell)...also I have a membership site feeding from that site for those wanting to learn how to sew...this sort of thing can be done in any hobby or niche...just think outside the box...but pick something that never would die a slow death in a recession...=)

  • Wow! Thanks to everyone who posted on 1/29. All great stuff that I will be referring back to daily. For now, I think I will focus on one and work my way up from there. I found out that my original project idea (which was the reason for this post) will require a dedicated server anyway and that sounds expensive...humm...so this one goes into my long-term goal bucket list. Lol!

  • the more options you have on your site the more potential money you can make. also if you use adsense your site wont be considered MFA if you have amazon and CPA offers. keep you from a ban hammer just my two cents

  • You can try any combination of monetization channels that you want, just keep the site looking clean and uncluttered, and track what works. Depending on your traffic levels, test a few methods against each other for a week or month at a time.

    Hypothetically though, if Adsense ads are getting clicked, you would make more money finding similar offers through networks like CJ, Shareasale, or even Clickbank, and putting those offers up as an affiliate instead of just getting pennies for the clicks.

    Then your own products are a step up from that, if it's feasible for you to create one that would convert as well as the affiliate offers.

  • Buddy, I would suggest that instead of having multiple income streams on your website, it is very important to analyze which income streams are making you the most money.

    Once you have analysed that, you can keep only those revenue streams which are converting the best for you.

    Since you asked for an example, on my website: Buy Facebook Fans at ultra cheap prices - XL Internet Marketing , I only have posted a single revenue model on the site, that is 'services' that I offer.

    Although, I have posted multiple services on the site.

    so, always keep analysing what works best for you and keep tweeking it from time to time
