Back in December I started my offline biz after reading the cash cow thread:
- I began by emailing 100 local businesses in my city......... resulted in 2 phone calls and 2 emails (4% response rate)
I set up 2 meetings from those 4 people which 1 didnt work out but
1 of these clients resulted in a "yes" and has agreed to $1000 to setup a mailing list for them
I also walked around my city for a few hours handing out business cards and asking if they wanted some help making more money. My approach sucked I know realize but it still WORKED
When you walk from shop to shop, most people will say no thanks, you may get 1 or 2 rude people but nothing that will put you off. And I got a couple people saying they have been thinking about getting a site or mailing list and ask for a card
In Jan I sort of stopped promoting my business due to other things going on, but I received a call a few days ago from a shop I went to back in December.
I met with her yesterday after after speaking for 1 hour, she seems very keen and we agreed to do a site and mailing list for $1,700! (and if that goes well she eventually wants to turn the site into an ecommerce site which means another $1000 atleast)
She also contacted a large SEO company who tried to sell her a "unrealistic dream" for a whopping $6000, so my aproach was very effective, nice honest and cheaper!
.......So the Results, a few hours of walking around and emailing = $2700
and I have 2 more potential clients I need to chat to again...1 which could be a $3000 deal.
A lot of this is just putting yourself out there and being in the right place at the right time.
Definitely more $$$ than anything else I have worked from doing "IM"
