I read a few good guides on Kindle publishing here and in the War Room (no, not those "spam Kindle with recycled PLR" guides) and decided to write a Kindle title: a short guide to succeeding in a career in the area where I currently run a small business (unrelated to IM, which is my other career ).
It's been out a few months, but seemed to hit a critical mass (like the top 5 in several categories) this month, selling about 35 units, which I was pretty pleased with. Could be the new years resolution crowd, but I don't think so Have currently got a 100% 5-star rating from readers and am also gradually building a modest list of buyers by offering a freebie (some sample job application cover letter templates).
I have got quite a few ideas for additional titles and resources that I will be able to put out as products on the back of this one, though I would still welcome ideas for that "killer money-making product" in the area of careers. I am thinking a premium-priced coaching/training membership site or autoresponder course.
Anyway, so the message is that there is a great market out there for quality Kindle titles, especially ones which serve up a concise guide to a specific area that you are knowledgeable about. Very often these niches are dominated by huge, bulky encyclopaedic guides costing $17.99 which instead of helping people just confuse them even more.
There's an idea for a start: write a career guide for the area you are/have been successful in. Or a simple no-fluff, "how to" guide for just about anything you are knowledgeable about, especially where people are hungry for information that will improve their lives or profit them (eradicating cockroaches, making friends, xxxx for dummies - use your imagination!).
You could soon be earning literally TENS of dollars a month like me But of course, that is just the springboard - where you take it from there, well, the sky is the limit.
