Can I have more than 1 YouTube channel?

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of launching a new website and I need a YouTube channel for it as well. Do I need to make a new Google account for that or can I just make a new channel and parent it under my main Google account?

I tried creating a new Google account but it just signs me automatically to G+ and other stuff.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that you can only make as many Youtube accounts as you have Google accounts. You need a different Google account for each Youtube account that you plan to make.

I'd say this sounds right. I think its one account per gmail account. So technically, you could create a 2nd gmail account first I guess, but not sure if they have any rules against this.

They should really give you the option of creating a new channel for each G+ business page you have. That way, they can still keep an eye on you to make sure you aren't a spammer, but you can upload your baby or cat videos to your channel while uploading how to videos or whatever to your pages' channels.

Funny thing - I just bought the .com domain of my business name, no problem there. Came here on WF to ask for feedback about the name and now guess what - the YouTube channel with my business' name is taken!

And it's a newly created channel, i.e., it was created after you posted the name here on the forum? Yikes. Sounds like a real piece of trash at work.

I can't tell - cause the account is already closed, but I still can't use the name even if they're not using it anymore :/ Oh well..

I just had to add "YT" at the end of the channel's name, I'm not really happy with this, but I don't see any other solution.

And yes, I have a feeling there's a real piece of trash at work, although I would prefer to believe it was just pure coincidence.

No problem -- just add a simple variation to your channel name. If "Nike" is already taken, register "JustDoIt". If your Coca-Cola is already taken, register "Fun-in-a-Bottle" etc...

    That's bad.

I think having several YT accounts is wise as they have a tendency to shut people down.
If one goes then just focus on the other and start a new back up channel.

I've had issues with having multiple YouTube accounts since they had to be linked to a Google account. The problem is that Gmail often requires phone verification for new accounts and you can only have one account per phone number (I think). In my experience, anytime I try to create a new account it require phone verification. When I use my current phone number it states that my number has been used for too many accounts already.

I have yet to find a work around for this besides getting a new phone number. At least a work around that isn't ethically questionable.

You can have as many YouTube channels as you'd like. Unfortunately, you have to have a separate YouTube account for each and every one of them.
In Blogger you can have multiple blogs attached to the same Blogger user ID. Each blog is a separate entity, and you can decide whether or not to publicize the blogs attached to your Blogger ID in your profile.

YouTube does not work that way. You can create separate playlists and groups, but neither of those solutions will keep family videos truly separated from comedy routines or your work videos separate from your ABBA fan club videos.

If you're maintaining multiple YouTube accounts that are tied to Google accounts, you need to remember to log out or it could cause confusion with Gmail and other Google services

    Got it.

Switch back to old channel design. Edit channel - modules.

yes, you need to make a new google account to make an account on the youtube because for one gmail account you can make one youtube account.

Actually what I show above lets you bring your other account channels to one account - or other peoples channels as well. Not multiple channels per account.

If you need multiple accounts I recommend making multiple gmail email address, don't believe you would get banned or something like that from having multiple accounts.

I manage 8 different Youtube channels at the minute for different clients and each get's a new email specifically for the Youtube channel.

Just make a new gmail account for each account.

I've been wondering this same thing myself. When I read thru the info on YT it was not clear at all. I am going to set up some more video marketing stuff. So I really appreciate the input and information from all of you!

That sucks dude. I know you wanted that Youtube Channel name, but you can still put an interesting twist to the name. As far as the "coincidence" of having that Youtube name taken... sounds uncalled for. I would create a Youtube channel with a brand new Google account.

You can buy accounts on fiverr, but you have to supply the people with the YouTube channel names that you want beforehand. Make sure to tell them that channel names that you want or else they will send you phone verified accounts with the channel names already selected.
