I always have the hardest time coming up with cool and interesting names for new businesses and websites. Where does everyone get their inspiration, ideas, and suggestions from when brainstorming a new name?

  • I am a total idea person, coming up with ideas is one of my favorite things. If you aren't into it, you could always hire someone on fiverr. Or try a web-based word spinner or domain suggestion tool.

  • I actually hired a few people on fiverr, but the names that they came up with were a complete joke. Domain suggestion tools (from what I have used) suck.
  • look online at some of your competition: just type in (whatever keywords) and see what comes up. Then do a mashup of terms you like.

  • I name them accroding to my products .It is also good for SEO .
  • Easy to remember is at the top of my list when coming up with names.
  • First of all search your business competitors and then make a name according to the competitors and domain also but what is your business niche ?
  • When I require a name for a company, site or product I visit my local pub...One can make naming a very complex process, just sit back and let it come to you. Remember, you are looking for something simple, unique and meaningful, so do not over complicate the process...

  • I usually get a list of adjectives that I like, other words that I want to incorporate or model my brand after (animals, places, things) and mash them together till I come up with something and that is available to register.

    Good luck!

    • it always starts with keyword research. run keywords to your niche in market samurai, google keyword research
  • I use name generators for a hint.
  • I initially considered integrating my business name with my last name. So 2 options i was thinking about were:

    1) Magwood Marketing Group

    and....

    2) Magwood Inner Circle

But i decided on Success Today Unlimited cause it just resonated as a positive business name to have.

    • Absolutely. It's always best to put what you do in your business name or have something totally unrelated.

Apple for example or Pioneer (Electronics Brand).

Try mixing and matching with some fruits or vegetables names. Pepperoni Marketing.
  • You can try the random company name generator: Company Name Generator - Need a name for your company ? Generate it !
  • When it comes to naming a business it is important to ensure you will be able to acquire a domain name.

You can always start a thread (or continue this one) asking people for name ideas. People do it all the time.
  • Naming is a very important aspect in business as a business is known by its name. For me i get names from the products am selling or a popular word used oftenly in an area.

  • I always have a hard time thinking of names so i ask my girlfriend or friends
  • You can use your second name to name your company.
If that doesn't work i recommend you hire a brand naming company.
I got my company name from frozenlemons.
  • I think there is no shortcut way to get the perfect idea of business name. You will have to brain storm to some extend if you want a perfect business name idea. The process of deciding perfect business name is somehow lengthy. But there are online tools which lower confusion. Try these tools that i like to use when it comes to get idea of business name.

  • Including one of your major keywords + your name in an attractive, informative way is a good idea.
  • Try pickydomains.com
  • Brainstorming is the first step. If that doesn't work its better to try company name generator or domain name generator. Also there are many brand naming companies that provide company name ideas/suggestions.
  • It саn seem a lіttlе intimidating tо try to lаunсh a small buѕіnеѕѕ whеn thеrе are
оvеr mіllіоn small buѕіnеѕѕеѕ that open еvеrу mоnth around the glove. There are so
many business ideas that can generate you a lot of cash online. If you're serious about creating a lucrative online home business...
  • Use a random name generator or name it after what you are offering.
  • What I usually do is get the online dictionary up and look up words about my niche or product. Then I use the Thesaurus to look up synonyms. Get a lot of words down on paper.

Then try different combinations. See what you come up with! (Actually fun!) Go to this domain name generator at Domain Name Idea Generator - register domain names.

Then see if the domain name is available. If it is, before you purchase, go to uspto.org to see if the name has been trademarked.

Why? You do not want any legal hassles with people who trademarked the name.

If the trademark is available, go ahead and purchase the domain. Trademarking will be a later decision should your business be successful. That's branding.

    Hope this helps.

  • If you've ran out of ideas for your new business name, there are business name generator that you can find on the web. They are really cool and fun to use.
  • Write a list of words that relate to your topic or the meaning of your website/brand.

Next, mash them together until you find a word that sounds cool.

The bonus here is that often the domain and social tags are free because it is a new word.
  • I though the trick was to take a word and add
an ly or ify at the end?
  • For ideas check out tech crunch's Crunchbase https://www.crunchbase.com/search

In the search just put a letter in and search for it
Like do a search for all companies with A in it
Then do a search for all companies with "B" in the name

Youll end up with ideas of company names, many new and fresh, that have serious players investing big money in them. So they are companies with names that are being taken seriously.
I struggled with a company name then I found a name on Crunchbase that I liked. I changes the first 4 letters now I have my own name that sounds pretty good

  • Ideas are really easy to come up with. Think of ideas as coming up with song titles.
  • 1) go brainstorm in a comfortable environment, get a few beers and don't eliminate any options that you think of at the moment
    2) check your competitors and make a list of their names (circle the ones you like best)
    3) make a top 5
    4) eliminate based on: it cannot be too easy but has to be found/pronounced/remembered easily
  • You can use some of the numerous “Business Name Generators” like - GoSpaices, Wordoid, Namestation, Lean Domain Search, Bustaname etc.
