Google checkout? Anyone? Apart from 2CO, PAYPAL etc....

Paypal, 2CO, Clickbank, Powerbiz etc.....

I see so many websites are using the above
merchant accounts to accept payment.

I wonder though, how come nobody is
using Google Checkout? Or is there?

Please share with us your experience with
it if you are using Google Checkout.

Your input will be very much appreciated!

Google Checkout does not accept paypal funds directly. So i would prefer to use paypal as some persons prefer not to use their creditcards for online transaction.

Would you offer both Google Checkout and Paypal
on your order page for your customers to choose?

You can only sell through Google Checkout if you're in the U.S. or U.K., so that immediately discounts about 5.6 billion people (as sellers).

Also, the fact that you have to "register for an account" may be off-putting to many buyers... even changing that specific wording might improve things.

Also, the PayPal "problem" is there.

That said, it's still relatively new... maybe it's just in it's infancy?

From a development point of view, the system is a mess.

As Tommy said, it accepts only US and UK as vendors. With only two options, Google still managed to make both systems different - the backend operates different whether you have a UK or US account.

Then they're the first 3rd party payment processor to REQUIRE that you have an SSL certifcate on your website - this is fine if you're actually processing credit cards, but you're not; this is all done on Google's website. So this requirement means the system is not designed to be used by beginners.

It had massive publicity, but then they under-delivered with a half-baked payment processor. And I don't say that lightly...

Hopefully they'll clean it up, or at least buy out a smaller payment processor and paste their name onto it, YouTube style.

      cheers

I'm no fan of PayPal for sure but agree with others here - Google checkout isn't ready yet as a serious contender. I sure wish they were though......
