Is your Traffic Strategy Killing Your Business?

Hey Warriors!

We all know how important traffic is to keeping our businesses ticking. Many of us obsess with how we can get more traffic. We try to learn the latest tips and tricks so we can squeeze every single last visitor.

But is your strategy actually killing your business?

Most people I talk to fall in two groups:

1) Those with plan.
2) Those without a plan.

Those without a plan ultimately fail...

They dabble in every technique, but master none and end up giving up....or they do very little expecting massive results.

Some of those with a plan succeed....

But most are actually struggling...

Some people limit themselves spread themselves out so thinly that there efforts are less efficient....the result is less traffic than they should be getting.

Others hedge their bets on hitting the SEO jackpot...but this is slow, time consuming and risky.

So what should you be doing?

I like to call it the traffic tripod...

Here is what it entails.

1) Choose 3 Traffic methods that you are comfortable with...
2) Implement them every single day....
3) Stick with them...
4) Every month review the situation.

Here is why it works.

1) You focus on a couple of techniques and master them.
2) You are not dependent on one traffic source...
3) You can mix slow traffic generation with faster ones...(I.e. SEO and Forum Marketing)

So are you implementing the traffic tripod? Or are you still depending on one source....or worse yet...spreading yourself thinly?

Comments welcome

Regards

Chris

As it goes I about 3 main methods I'm always jumping back and forth when it comes to Traffic methods.

I find it helps as it doesn't get tedious always doing one method all the time.

That's a great post OP. Maybe we could discuss some types of traffic methods?

    For instance, there's obviously SEO.

    Then there's social media.

There's also PPC/AdBuys - but most newbies can't consider this because of the costs involved.

    I suppose there's also list-building.

Personally, I feel that diversification is all well and good, but it really should come after a certain stage. The first stage is to get income/traffic. Then scale it up. Then diversify. I've found that most newbies who try to diversify too soon get confused and overwhelmed, and unable to earn a decent amount. It's often better for them to pick one method, learn it well and apply it, start getting traffic and income (for a newbie, starting to earn is usually the biggest and most important hurdle to overcome).

Many people fails is because they never try the methods they think will works out for them.

For every niche, is good to test out different methods and see which method works well...the reason is that not every traffic works for every niche and of cos the person who is testing out the method also play a part

      Agree!

Far too many people jump from one method to another without seeing the impact that it is having...

      Sophia,

I personally look at my traffic generation at the end of the month and evaluate the impact that each method is having on the business.

For me it's a time vs reward thing....

If I Spent ages setting up a traffic system that gets me very little traffic I may not chase it up...unless the conversions are through the roof.

It's about testing... and finding something that you are comfortable with.

Remember traffic is an accumulative thing in many cases....little trickles that make a river

      Thanks for your comments warriors!

Not a bad post at all OP. Sometimes we can get so tangled up into one specific method of getting traffic that we end up getting bored of it and quit. On the other hand some of us jump from 1 traffic generating method to the next that we don't accomplish anything nor do we learn anything from it because we were so busy with all the other methods out there all at once.

Yup that tends to be a problem....

People focus on one strategy and if they do not see much traffic they give up...

It's about planning which strategies to implement and taking action, rather than hopping about like a mexican jumping bean!

Master one method, than move on to something else.

The problem with this is that many choose to master a technique like SEO which is relatively slow to implement....

      They get bored...

      And then give up.

If you work on 3 methods at the same time, you are far more likely to keep going since you will have some traffic trickling in...
