Dragon speech recognition

Can anyone tell me if my own logitech headset will work with the voice rocognition software DSR?

I'm thinking about buying the home version for $99.

Any tips or advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

I use the headset that came with the program and it works fine, although a nicer headset would probably work even better. The new version of Dragon is really good, IMHO, much better than the previous versions.

Is it the latest version of the home edition that you have?

      Thanks for the reply

I think so..its 11.5. I can def. recommend it. I had 10.5 previously, and I think this version is way better.

Dragon scares me a bit, i tried a free version about a month ago and about 25% of the words were wrong altogether or misspelled somehow so i found myself doing the work twice cuz of the editing i had to do..

Have you guys had that problem or is it just because i tried a free version to check them out first?

It takes a bit of training, but if you do the diagnostic training first, that helps. Also, you need to speak naturally, and not too fast or slow. I haven't even really starting using it to its full capabilities yet as I think there is a lot you can do with it.

I do agree that there is sometimes more editing involved because the self-editing as you write isn't there as much.

Be prepared to spend a few hours training it. Also, I believe the lowest price is on ebay, but you may want to shop around a bit if you're a bargain hunter like me

Do you find that dragon is a little slow at times or are you able to speak constantly?

I often have to wait for it to catch up...which is frustrating.

Yes, that can definitely occur... and when it does it kind of defeats the purpose of using Dragon Naturally Speaking in the first place. If you're waiting for the program to catch up, you've already interrupted your stream of consciousness writing.

One option is to record your article or report - either with a program like Audacity (free) or portable digital recorder and then upload the file and have Dragon convert it to text for you. You can then edit after the creative work is done. With a recorder, you're not tied to your computer, so you can create content in different settings.
