put affiliate links on youtube?

hi everybody. I'm new to affiliate marketing. i know i can be a success, but i have 1 main problem that i'm confused on.
I signed up with clickbank and when they give me the affiliate link its very long and its not something i would click on if i were a normal internet user.
I tryed using free online link cloakers to shorten the url, but it doesn't work to post it in youtube video description boxes.
lets say i was promoting a product, well if i get the affiliate link for it i can post it in the youtube box and it works but like i said its not something i think many would click on as the url does not match the product i'm promoting. Is there any way around this? what would you suggest i do?

You can use domain forwarding- so you buy a domain: get-huge-muscles.com, and then you forward it to your affiliate link.

Or, you install wordpress on your domain and install the prettylinks plugin, so that you can make the links say whatever you want: get-huge-muscles.com/training-program or get-huge-muscles.com/get-jacked-overnight

Something like that but with a less stupid domain.

Nate, so if i did that, i would be able to post my domain into the youtube description box, and it would redirect to the website of the product i'm promoting?
do you have to sign up for webhosting to do it? or just buy the domain?

Yeah you can put it in the description. You only need the domain name for the first option- for the second option you'd need hosting.

But... hosting is a small investment to be able to build your own websites.

thanks will, but what i really wanna do is something like this.
say for example i am promoting a book and the book is titled find the truth.
if there website was called findthetruth.com i would want to make something similar, such as findingthetruth.com but if i do it your way it would say something like this,
tinyurl dot com and then slash find the truth dot com

which still isn't a very nice looking link, in my opinion. So do you still make a good commission doing it that way?

Nate, ok. Then using the first option how would i redirect it to their site?
eventually i wanna start my own sites, but I'm starting small since i don't have much money.

a great way to do it is use video editing software make a how to video's about affiliate marketing and post your affiliate links in shout out text inside your video, most video editors can accomplish this, a free one called camstudio you can check out, not sure of the link google it

It's better that you should redirect the affiliate link with the "domain forwarding" feature of your respective domain registrar. Otherwise, you can cloak them with bit.ly or any URL shortener.

This all comes down to your budget. You can use free services like tinyurl and still have success. I surely have success using those links everyday. Now you can also get your own domain for the product you are promoting like the previous posters said, but keep in mind that if you are gong to promote multiple products the names will most likely vary. So you might end up having to buy multiple domains just to redirect them to a product that might or might not be profitable for you.

My advice is start up with the free tinyurl service. If you start seeing positive results then go ahead and snag a domain for it!

If you haven't done so already, your youtube channel should be in the same niche as the product you are promoting. For example if you are promoting a muscle building product. Make your channel name musclebuildingvideos..etc..you get the idea. Don't forget about the video title which is important to have keywords and your tags as well.

    Cheers!

pro20 thanks, i guess I'll test the waters with that method, then if it works out I'll get a domain. I have researched the product quite well, so i'm sure it will convert nicely.

got the rest covered. I have been on youtube for over two years promoting my music in a highly competitive niche and I've done pretty good so far, so I'm confident in that respect.

Hi, I have a similar question.
I heard recently that you can no longer use tiny url to shorten aff links on youtube?
How can this be done legally now?
    Thanks

Do one thing....go to co.cc and book some free domains(actually subdomains...) and redirect those to your affiliate URLs and then promote it. It will work like bullet...

It's a long fight between Google and CO.CC team...last year Google banned all CO.CC domains.....after a long conversation, Google unblocked some of them but
again Google blocked those domains(WTF?). I tried this trick and it worked for me(specially if you don't want to purchase a domain just for affiliate URL redirection).

I think that buying a domain with a .com and using it for forwarding is going to be the most attractive option. Right now Godaddy is having a sale for $2 .COM's code: FITNESS.

I'm just gonna ask, because I often hear a lot of tech and philosophy, but is anyone making money with these methods? Any examples?
