Sub-fifty-post member status and the JV thing

Hey warriors. I'm hoping that someone or a few someones here can help clue me in on something.

Here's the thing. I have a great idea for a WSO and would like to try to find a partner to work with on it. The JV forum has the rule that your first post can't be one that is presenting a JV of any kind, so I don't want to violate that one of course, but I also find that I can't start a thread there anyway (because of the 50 post count thing, I assume). And of course I can't PM anyone yet either.

And if I can't start a thread there, that only leaves posting an off-topic post in someone else's thread which is definitely bad form in my book, so I'm not sure what I can do. I'm willing to offer a free service to some folks in the JV forum to give some value first, but there again, to do that I would have to post an off-topic post.

One option of course is to just wait until I amass 50 posts so that I can post a thread, but am trying to be proactive here and just thought I'd see if anyone had suggestions on other ways that maybe I'm not aware of to network here while not blowing rules or etiquette.

cheers & thanks for any tips,
S

    Hi Mark,

That is definitely going to happen, and was aware of that as the ultimate remedy. Just didn't know if it was the only one. I'm starting to see that it is a little more important than I thought to be taken seriously here (except as a WSO buyer).

My approach, until just now, was sort of that as part of deciding whether or not to become a full member, I was checking things out to see what the community was like, etc., but I can see that it may not work and that it will have to go the other way: I have to become a full member to really have any access to networking and any real info regardless of post count... which is fine, now that I fully understand it. I have no qualms about it.

I mean it makes total sense from the business perspective... if someone doesn't want to cough up $37 for entry into an upper-tier, private business association, how serious can they really be as an entrepreneur? I get that completely. And I do plan to join soon but I'm in product creation and information-gathering mode right now and money is very tight. In the meantime, I was just trying to see if there is a way to talk to people. I've never really encountered a forum culture like this one. It's pretty unique.
