Made 3 sales in the past week but should have made more!

about 4 months ago I decided to promote a product on clickbank that caught my interest. So I decided to outsource articles relating to the niche and I wrote the review for the product myself. I decided to target a keyword with 320 exact searches a month. 1 month later I was ranked number 4 and generated 100 dollars worth of sales. Then for some reason my site got bitch slapped off the face of the earth and I basically gave up and left the site for dead without updating any further content. But this past month I started building links again here and there and my site surprising came back at the number one spot making 3 more sales within this past week. Still not enough to quit the 8-5 but atleast its something.

I guess the moral of the story is to keep building links and updating your blog and not get discourage. I am kicking myself for letting months go to waste.

It's good you had the strength to bounce back.

In IM, there will always be sudden shocks that have the aim of demoralizing us but the ones who are meant to be successful always overcome these. Keep working hard and you will have a lot more than three sales every week hopefully! I hope others learn a lesson from this as well.

It's normal that Google slap a new website after it has been ranked high for a period of time - just ignore it and continue doing your stuff

It sounds to me that you have been building this small niche website rather fast and without that many problems. Why not build a few more?
