I am new and interested in using an autoresponder to start building a list. Since I don't want to pay for a service like Aweber until I know that my business is making money, can anyone suggest a free autoresponder service.

thanks,

tom

Does the free version works the same as the paid version? Can we put our own ads in the free version?

yes, I think it does work the same and you can put whatever you want in it, but there are some limitations I think, such as only 5 followups can be used

    Hello Tom..

This is probably now what you want to hear, but I'm gonna tell you anyways

FORGET the free autoresponder, forget worrying about whether or not this business is going to make you money.. allocate the funds for your aweber subscription each month (if you don't have it spare then get a part time job to fund your business running costs for a while) and then tell yourself that you WILL make this a profitable and enjoyable activity.

This business WILL make you money if you work smart, and believe in yourself.

Find the monthly $$ for a professional autoresponder service, some way, some how.. it is possible and definitely worthwhile.

Starting out on the right foot is massively important, you can cutt a whole heap of crap out of the learning curve if you develop some sound business practices right now that you will carry with you in your internet marketing career.

One of those practices is knowing when to accept that some things are a good long term investment in the future of your business if you would just believe in your ability and work smart.

Thinking long term is sometimes painful in the right now, but the euphoria of success is worth every small meal

I wish you the greatest success

    Peace

Listen to Jay, the worst mistake I made when I first started over 10 years ago was use a free autoresponder for 3 years.

I also agree with Jay about free vs. a paid autoresponder but, ain't no need of getting an autoresponder account of you have not solved the traffic situation.

Have you discovered how to get a steady stream of visitors to any offer/page you want?

If so, it's time to get a real autoresponder account not a free one - if you want to build your list(s).

    Until then, I wouldn't bother.

Try to host your own autoresponder if you don't want to pay every month for autoresponder service. But once the domain/server was flagged as SPAM, then I don't know whether there's any workaround with that.

The sooner that you decide you are actually in business for the purpose of making money, the better. If you have the "I'll use the free service until I make money" mentality, you will never make money. If you commit to getting a autoresponder service and invest in a few, good, basic tools for online marketing, you will be much further ahead. Then it is a business and you just execute the plan...

If you are serious just go with Aweber.

This will be the best tool you ever purchase..!!!

You've got to remember Aweber aim to fight SPAM and do all they
can to get your emails through.

Go with a free script and your delivery rate will suffer big time..!!!

Aweber know what they are doing and whats $19 a month..

    Yes Tom, go with Aweber!

    Steve Robison here.

Your emails will be delivered and you'll never have a spam problem.

It will be the best $19/month you'll ever spend.

It is well worth the small investment.

To be more specific, there are different fees/prices depending on your list size. (Cheap to start, but make sure you read about their fees.)

When I first got started I used Email Aces, it's only $8.95 a month. It has it's limitations at that price but its much better than a free autoresponder.

I switched to Aweber in 2004

The whole point of building a list is to have contact with them on a regular basis both automated and broadcast at times you choose.

This defeats the purpose, and good luck getting emails delivered from a HotMail or Yahoo account like that. They have sending limits.

Free autoresponders do have their place...if you have a decent size list you've created on some obscure setup that you want to 'import directly' most paid services won't let you do this....so a self-hosted solution works in this scenario...

Also if you're dealing in tiny numbers to start there are free GPL scripts like Infinite Responder, phplist.com, etc that will let you get your feet wet for free...

I have a custom hacked version of Infinite Responder that lets me import 30k leads whenever I want...I find that useful.

All that being said, if you are list building with traditional methods, eg; PPC traffic, articles, squeeze pages for free give aways, etc....it's really recomended to go with a 'hosted' service.

I'd recommend starting with getresponse's free entry service, unless of course you're a control freak like myself and want to self-host and control the outbound sending issues.
